ALPHA v. 0.3


FC version numbers are a bit arbitrary, but this update is a big one, and enough has been added since 0.2 to bump it up. Naturally, with many new features will come many new bugs. On a different note, rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, I am human. Future updates will be frequent but will not continue the every-day routine maintained during late September.

The Brothel now includes a very basic variety bonus. For now, it is limited for playtest purposes to that facility only, and only gives a bonus if the PC maintains a balance between slaves that get the huge T&A bonus and slaves that get the girlish figure bonus. The balance should be quite easy to qualify for.

I am working to add increased depth for players that want it while keeping the game accessible for players that do not. The variety bonus is the first step in that direction. If you pursue a playthrough to that point, please let me know what you think of the system to inform its further development. Suggestions of different types of variety bonuses are not needed, since I already plan many of them once the system is functional.

A general comment about comments. This is my blog. I reserve, and will actively exercise, the right to prune comments that I consider excessively unpleasant, unhelpful, or below a certain minimum bar of coherence. Of course, I welcome negative feedback. Indeed, I value it more than positive feedback; but garbage I will remove. Please note that this is an observation, not an explanation, for I owe none.

0.3 Changelog:
  • Slave origins, which give the basics of how the PC acquired each slave.
  • Height made more granular, and height-altering surgery added.
  • Weight made more granular.
  • Nerf to slaves with huge assets in that there is now a single profit bonus for huge T&A, rather than a bonus for huge T and a bonus for huge A. In compensation, slightly reduced what qualifies as huge T.
  • Added a basic variety bonus to the brothel. This will increase profits if there is a decent balance between slim and stacked slaves there. This system will be greatly expanded if it works well.
  • Servants' quarters. This is functionally similar to the other upgrade facilities, but for servants; this was a frequently requested feature. It also produces a small amount of reputation. All serving assignments have been heavily buffed, as well.
  • Minor nerf to all the upgrade facilities: the Servants' Quarters and Dairy will now mentally improve slaves to Obedient only, while the Promenade and Brothel will improve to low Devoted instead of high Devoted. Slaves that enter with better mental states than that will not be affected.
  • Stats tracking on the arcology management screen, limited to total bonings and total liters of milk for now.
  • Numerous other balance changes.
  • New random event.
  • Bugfixes.

    1. Yes, I see you disabled the Manage Arcology link on the weekly report / upkeep costs / random event pages, which fixes half of the exploit. It is still possible to navigate away from these pages via the wiki link, and when you hit "back" the game generates all the content anew.

      The issue is that the game remembers how much cash you have TOTAL, without considering that it already gave you cash for this week. So if you navigate away/back from the upkeep costs page, you get the earnings/costs calculated again and then added to the total - and then you can go visit the wiki and come back and the game will do it OVER AND OVER.

      Doing this from the weekly update page will also result in a cash increase if your slaves are working any money-paying jobs. More importantly, though, the game will re-roll every single thing for each of your slaves, so you could potentially raise health/devotion or have various drug/workout effects trigger multiple times with only a single week passing once you've reached the desired level of each.

      The random event page seems to roll which event you get before the page becomes visible to the player. If the player navigates into the wiki and back, the event will stay the same, with one exception - if multiple slaves could have triggered the same event, the game will re-roll for the slave being affected. For example, if you have multiple slaves without nicknames and hit a nickname event, the game will generate a new nickname event (it won't necessarily even be the same type of nickname).

      Finally, a bug - not an exploit - exists when checking the wiki from the random event page. You can hit "back" just fine, but when you return to the random event page the wiki link disappears. It is simply gone, with the space under "FC Encyclopedia:" completely blank.

      I think disabling wiki links on the above three pages might be the easiest solution. This is just a guess since I haven't actually looked at the code to figure out what's causing this. The exploit will still be available to anyone who wants to cheat because the game's behavior when displaying these pages will remain fundamentally the same. Anyone who wants to replicate it can just save while the page is being displayed; on loading the save, the game will remember its state (total cash or the random event type generated) and act as described above (add cash again or generate fresh event of the same type).

  3. Kinda have mixed feelings about the brothel bonus requiring a mix. If possible it would seem better to set a name to the brothel, with a preset to draw people in based on a certian fetish. Like Plastic Palace where having lots of implant surgery is better, Hidden Treasures gives a bonus for having feminine shemales, All in One needs slaves with stretched holes, and Pillow Fight needs muscle bound busty women. Its an idea that is a simple concept but I have no idea how the coding would be to handle it and if its to much I understand going with a simple model like posted in your post.

The variety bonus is designed to make staffing more complex than just cramming bodies into the facility, and more importantly, to encourage variety to make players eligible to see all the events. I like the branding idea a lot though, I'll play around with it. Could also have an advertiser of the brand's type on duty too.

    2. If the variety bonus applies to fat and thin bodies as wall as to small and large breasts say, the rules assistant could use a tweak.
      Right now it puts all slaves to a healthy weight. So ff you want fat and thin in your girls, can't use it anymore.

  4. Suggestion: country of origin. It'll take a fair bit of digging for demographic info if you're going to do it accurately, but I really think it'd be an efficient addition, since a player would read a whole lot into a girl being, for instance, French or German instead of just white. And it'd let the custom save orderer get a lot more mileage from people that want to build up a perfect harem of girls from their favourite country.

    There's an existing problem that this would compound, however: as more variables are added, the chance of someone getting bored of the game because they want a 'perfect' slave from the slave shops but they hit the button ten thousand times and it didn't happen increases. Now that it's possible to order custom slaves I think it's time to cut off the infinite slave generator - let each of the shops generate a small number of slaves per day (possibly modified by reputation or current slave prices or arcology prosperity or other factors) and let the players flip back and forth between them before they choose. In this case I think the player having less options would lead to more interesting gameplay, since they have to go through the options available to them and pick the one that fits best instead of chasing the elusive 'perfect' slave - and the custom slave order still allows them to get 'perfect' slaves, except they'd value them more because they saved up for the perfect slave instead of just hitting the 'next slave' button a bunch.

    1. As you have perceived, the custom slave option is building towards an eventual limit on slave generation. Not quite there yet. As to national origin, I'll consider it. Anons have repeatedly asked for something they can do to help, and that is something I could farm out reasonably.

  5. I accidentally the whole arcology raid.

    I made the "snatch & grab" lab-grown slave as a bodyguard right away. What I think happened is that, the week before the arcology raid was scheduled, I hit the "enter your bodyguard as a gladiator" event. When the raid week came, I saw the gladiatorial bout instead - you know, because armed raids on the arcology as SO last year. I only realized I missed something when the "mercenary in love" event fired and I didn't have any war-raid slaves for him to become attached to. To prevent this, I guess you'd need to implement some sort of check so the two-part events don't arrive the week before a plot event.

    Suggestion: move two-part events into something resembling an "inbox" on the main screen, to simulate private letters from other arcology owners. The invite message would then let you accept/decline and the event would fire the next week. This would take (an unknown to me amount of) coding, but could give you a spot to consolidate the various "slightly more special than usual" events.

    1. Eventually, multiple events per turn may happen. Until then, I'll just change the priority order to favor scheduled events, which will defer things like that reward to the next week.

  6. Already naturally-lactating slaves surgery reaction to lactation implants needs a bit of tweaking to make sense.

    Smart piercing can't cause a humiliation fetish, because in 'Rules and Clothes' the $activeSlave.clitSetting from setting it to humiliation is 'humiliating' but in the code in SA long term effects it checks for 'humiliation'.

    Servants in the servant quarters are still displayed individually in the end-of-week report. Also it looks like they get gradually driven down to 'Obedient' if they're already at 'Devoted' when they go in.

    Message in the servant's quarters when three or more are assigned: "One shift of girls is eating, cleaing the quarters, and bathing" - should be 'cleaning'.

  8. Putting slaves on the Servant's quarters still displays them on the weekly report, which got really annoying when I decided to put about 30 in cheat mode.
    Otherwise, keep up the good work, would love it more if you added more bodyguard events and an additional bodyguard slot, there really doesn't seem to be many benefits to muscularity except for obvious fetishism

  9. Noticed a few things about the escape attempt event.

    "Flog" option: "Lesser whippings are usually performed by binding a slave's hands and then securing THE to the ceiling" - should be THEM instead. Further down: "You tie $activeSlave.slave to a wall".

    "Mute" option: "She is allowed one last chance to verbally resist you, plead with you, and finally to beg with you, all in VAID." - should be VAIN.

  10. It looks like all slaves now start at average height now; dunno if that was intended.
    Still debating with myself whether the thresholds for some of the random events should be twiddled; there's lots of events where slaves who are already Devoted/Worshipful ask to be fucked or whatever and thus their increase in overall attitude doesn't really change. Similarly, the plastic surgery addict threshold is set so that the only people who want everything done practically have everything done already.

    1. I will go further average height problem. After 5 min decline and look for a new slave on free market and pre-owned there are only average heights slave, no petite small or tall ones.

  13. Fist, allow me to say you've made a great game already. I am truly impressed. Unfortunately my limited vocabulary does not allow me to express the level of respect I have for your work.

    Secondly, I am a guy with really weird fetishes. One of them is that I like to know as much about the game world as possible. Would you consider giving the FC Encyclopedia some love? It hasn't kept up with recent updates.

    Lastly, would you be willing to make the game harder? I start as poor as possible , in the toughest economic condition, keep my slave number low, don't daytrade slaves yest still end up with a tone of cash really fast. You needn't invest time doing something special just cut the income in half and call it "Insane difficulty" or something.

    Did I tell you how great your game is?

    1. Difficulty is an ongoing project. It's low priority because the game is still seeing major changes. I learned early on in this project to avoid updating things like difficulty every patch because it would take a week to complete each update if I did.

      I'm very happy to hear you like the encyclopedia. I could write a book about this world I've got in my head, so it's hard sometimes to tell what to put down in writing. So, tell you what; let me know what encyclopedia pages you'd like to see, and I'll work on them.

  15. alright, if you're going to start including disclaimers, maybe it's time to maybe write up some kind of document or blog post to explain what users can/can't do on this blog and etc.?.

    additional inquiry, you ever plan to write a legal document or something akin for this blog?

    the process of making a legal document is not fun but I've done it before.
    you kind of have to so you can prevent any legal problems and so you can protect yourself, may such an unfortunate circumstance ever occur. it takes a lot of time and you have to learn legal jargon to write a document though, so maybe the disclaimer thing would be easier.

  16. With the introduction of variety bonuses (bonii?) I'd like to suggest that Smart Piercings be reworked a little. Currently it seems like any slave exposed to enough constant sex will eventually become a Nymphomaniac, and with that being the 'all of the above' fetish there's no way (AFAIK) to go back to any of the others.

    Assuming that fetishes will eventually factor into some variety stuff, perhaps Smart Piercings should 'lock in' a fetish once set? For example, if you have a slave with a SP set to Cumslut, she may bounce around and get Nympho, but the piercing will nudge her towrd Cumslut and, once there, keep her that way.

    Because, honestly, as of v02.11.1 (going to try v03.002 as soon as I get home, whoop) there's really no reason to not have every slave set to/working towards Nymphomania. All of the other fetishes are kind of redundant from a game mechanics perspective.

  17. In regards to type bonuses, how about simulating client populations in simple detail? The slaves with male bits are noted to get less customers that pay more, so that could be a smaller pop fetish that gives a pay bonus. An even smaller population could have a fetish for slaves with working male bits and pay even more.

    In effect, you're tracking the population numbers of specific types of clients and their rough income distribution, with the possibility that the numbers could change over time. Better arcology facilities bring in more and wealthier people, and it will tend to be people that like what is on offer at their arcology. If it's a hung shemale brothel themed place, then more people with that fetish will frequent it, but there will always be demand for the other flavors.

    One benefit of this approach besides clients being able to adapt to the situation is that the game could report unmet demand for fetishes or social classes. Gloryhole for instance could be to keep low-income types content, while rich people prefer entertainers and specialists.

  18. Can we get a way for male/futa slaves to impregnate female slaves? Also, sidenote: can we chose the gender pronouns of our slaves. Whenever I get a slave with a cock I immediately turn them into hung musclebound bitchbreakers. And then "she". Idk, just kinda throws me off.

    1. Pronouns will never be flexible simply because it would take days of work at this point to review all 150,000 words for every use of she/her/hers. Impregnation by other slaves is planned.

  19. Is there possibility of a future release where you can enslave/transform the mercs or other slave owners? i think that would be quite cool. especially the merc that wants to buy your slave. trick him into slavery to be with the girl he wants and then make him one too.
