ALPHA 0.7.10: Wealth of Nations


This update provides a couple of examples of the way I often decide what to work on next. Sometimes there's an overall plan, but often I'll look to address a minor deficiency in the game and realize that the best way to do so thematically or for gameplay purposes is to add something new. This update adds slave retirement, and since it was necessary to give slaves some sort of existence after the various retirement options, there's also a new mechanic that allows the player to buy, sell, and own menial slaves. Similarly, some PC customization options were underpowered, so this update makes it possible for the PC to fail to detect gingering, and offers the weak customizations an advantage at detection.

The retirement system is probably going to frustrate some players. It's unforgiving by nature: at a specified moment, a slave that the player may have devoted considerable effort to vanishes from the game for most purposes. Nevertheless, I decided to add it after many requests, and because I think the game is improved by making slaves seem more lifelike. But, like other potentially obnoxious systems, it can now be toggled off.

This update also includes the game's first optional, toggleable mod. It's a lategame upgrade that provides a rowdy bunch of mercenaries commanded by a delightful individual who reminds me of a violent, rapey, coked-out Colonel Santiago. This is an optional, opt-in modification, since despite fitting into the FC world quite well, it may become non-canon at some point, and it involves a static character to a degree I'm avoiding in the base game.

Updated arcology economics
  • Three varieties of offscreen labor slaves can now be purchased in the slave markets.

Slave markets
  • Cleaned up and generally improved the slave markets, with new descriptions and better slave generation code.
  • Revised some existing text so that the PC is now described as physically visiting the arcology's slave markets.
  • Added a runaway slave catchers section of the markets, selling skilled but rebellious slaves.
  • Added a daredevil slave raiders section of the markets, selling slaves who have just reached their majorities.
  • It is now possible for the PC to fail to detect gingering unless he or she has the Slaver background.
  • The Mercenary background and Use of Force rumor both offer an extra chance to detect gingering through intimidation; these stack.
  • Added four new varieties of gingering for a total of seven.
Slave retirement
  • Slaves that reach a customizable retirement age will now retire and be removed from gameplay.
  • There are four different types of retirement, which are enacted through policies.
  • Slaves' value at sale will begin to decrease once they age to within five years of retirement.
  • Slaves will experience anticipation, positive or negative, once they age to within five years of retirement.
  • Retirees will become citizens, Fuckdolls, standard bioreactors, or menial slaves depending on retirement policy.
  • Retiring a slave will affect your other slaves mentally, with varying effects depending on the retirement and any relationships.
Other updates
  • Marriage between slaveowners and slaves is now a standalone policy which damages reputation; advanced Paternalism will prevent this malus.
  • Added other new policies, for a total of 70.
  • Added line separations to most slave lists: the old list style can be reenabled under summary options.
  • Added a toggle at game start to disable slave aging and remove all aging-related content: unlike other toggles it cannot be changed during a playthrough.
  • Mindbroken option added to starting slave customization.
  • Added a new career experience category for the Bodyguard.
  • Increased healing in the Clinic and applied the curative upgrade to slaves in the Clinic if present.
  • Lurchers with huge clits will now use them properly when successfully coursing.
  • Heavy lactation will now have additional long term effects on nipples.
  • Applied a hard floor of ¤1000 to slave valuation to prevent some policy exploits.
  • Size queens will now enjoy being stretched out by huge plugs and dildoes.
  • Additions to the encyclopedia.
  • Bugfixes.

    2. Speaking of this, I'd like the option to allow a slave's slave wife to be emancipated along with her when that slave hits the retirement age. I've been working on developing heavily Paternalist arcologies that, with the new retirement policies, end up having citizens notably outnumber slaves of all types, and I think letting slave married couples stay together would fit with my humane Paternalist preferences.

    4. Sure. I'm assuming drugs are out; if not, drugs. Implement as many Paternalist and generally pleasant policies as you can, keep all your slaves as happy as possible, and do everything you can that gives devotion bonuses when you acquire a new slave. That'll give you a major head start.

    2. Undocumented change. They're shortcuts on the starting slave customization screen that change a bunch of stats at once. They're there because I got tired of manually recreating certain things. I'm intending to do more with them.

  9. Do slaves become sterile at a certain age?

    I have a slave i created when i started the game, who is sterile, despite being a natural woman with no changes to genitalia. Theres no way to "restore fertility" as well in the remote mod studio.

With the price of sex driven so low by slave competition, there's hardly any profit in bodies patrons can't even touch. The girls here might be prostitutes now, but they're still free and they're surviving.

    As you pass, a pretty bottle blonde comes running out. "Hey," she calls, "you're the owner! You set us up with this place!" You ask her how they're doing. "Well," she says, smiling ruefully, "turning tricks ain't easy, you know. But we get by. Those rooms you set up for us are nice and cheap, even if we're packed in there like sorority girls." She winks. "Hey, I don't suppose you've fucked a free woman lately? I'll give you an Arcology Tour, on the house. Least I can do."

  15. One of the best smut game I've ever played, if not the best. I'm also surprised how frequently updated this game is, I got 7.8.1 a while a week or so ago and came back to find it's already on 7.10! This is an excellent job you're doing, thanks.

    By the way, I found a bug mentioned on "known bugs" but wasn't sure where to report it so here it go:

    Random Event, Week 95. Only a single one Fucktoy (plus a Concubine in Master Suite) at the time.

    "You have the luxury of being attended to by a coterie of devoted sex slaves.   20. With the average economics option, on week 14 I have enough repution and I'm getting slaves with a score of up to 130 that cost ¤3000 on the Raiders' Market, and yes 3000 is the usual price, not an ocasion. I imagine this isn't as intended.

I especially appreciate the deepening of the general background, economy and culture sides to the game that the last two updates provide, and I hope the trend continues.

  23. TYPO: "Arcologies are such massive structures that it is very possible to design them to either be anchored to the seabed." You're missing the or part of the either/or clause. This is on the arcology location choice screen in 0.7.10.

    Also, there are certain passages in the code that I can't seem to locate if I unpack the game in Twine. The coursing event in particular was 'missing' in 0.7.9, as well, though the events fire normally. Is this deliberate, or am I doing something wrong?

  24. Bug: had 11/5 Arcade with the fuckdoll improvement sell my Head Girl (who was not in the arcade) as a mindbroken fuckdoll. Arcade was still 11/5 next turn.
    Some time after that, another slave outside the arcade (on fucktoy duty) was sold by the arcade.

  25. I just got the "can you give me more implants" random event. The problem with this is that the slave in question was so heavily implanted already that the scene actually DECREASED them. She had 3800cc breast implants before the event and 1200cc after. It also shrunk her lip implants by one size (she was at max).

    1. Also, I note that the code sets implants to 1200 but increases boobs by 1200, meaning a slave that already has implants (they have to have at least 400cc for the event to fire) will gain non-implant-related breast size from this scene.

  26. 0.7.10 BUG: in event RE buttslut interest: "She's mute and has no hands, so it takes a long, frustrating time for her to communicate that she would like you to do to her what you did to $buttslutName." Aside from the obvious issue of $buttslutName, which should be $subSlave.slaveName, the slave in question is neither mute nor an amputee.

    The problem with that is the boolean operators are out of order in the first check: <>. AND has a higher precedence than OR, so it's checking for either accent or both amp and voice. Therefore, the entire statement becomes true if accent >= 3.

    The above is corrected, unless parentheses are fucky in Twine or something. I'd also recommend changing the line to "She's unable to talk and has no hands..." or something similar to avoid confusion with muteness/non-fluency.

One of my slaves has been emotionally bonded to me for a long time now, and I passed the policy to allow slaves marrying slaveowners, but on her appearance page, I can only have sex with her, not marry her, as I could in previous versions. She was my starting slave, custom created. I'm on Week 38 now, and don't have that mod activated.

  36. I'm encountering a bug in Debug mode, where once I upgrade to spires the game loses my influence value the first time I end each week. It defaults to "$unknown" once I get to the arcology update page, and is fixed upon reloading a save and ending the same week again. occurs every week, forcing an annoying END WEEK - reload - END WEEK cycle. it's debug mode, so not especially problematic, but I don't know if it applies to standard as well. Thought it was worth mentioning.

    *Requesting surgical sterilization for male slaves that doesn't involve chopping their balls off. I want to

    implement eugenics, but without the nad-nabbing.

    *Requesting categories on the FCE sidebar. Just a basic list with the subentries sorted alphabetically:

    *Requesting a "Remove all implants/tattoos/piercings" button. The main slave description would be the most

    convenient place for it, assuming you don't think it would clutter things up too much. Ideally, the player

    wouldn't have to go into both the surgical menu (for implants) and the SMTH menu (for tatoos and piercings).

    I own one, according to the financial summary, and the Sell option shows up. Hitting sell gives the expected ¤1100. Same problem with fuckdolls and bioreactors.
    "elseif $helots/$fuckdolls/$menialBioreactors gt 1" seems to be the problem. Should be 'is 1'.

    *The message when you own exactly one bioreactor (if you fix the bug) is "You own one Fuckdoll."

    - Instead of having to go to the 'buy slaves' screen and manually convert menials to fuckdolls/bioreactors each week, a toggle (or policies?) to automatically convert incoming refugees to one or the other (or even citizens?) would be nice.

    - Do retired slaves interact with the Future Society reputation system at all? For example, does a bioreactor 'count' for the Pastoralist lactation rep bonus?

    - There's no entry for Slimness Enthusiasm-based titles in 'PC Name and Title'.

    - Policy Suggestion: Facial Feminization, slaves with dicks must have some work put into their appearance before being sold in your arcology (+1 to Face, +500(or whatever) minimum slave cost) - because the only XY slaves that can be generated with a maxed-out Face score 'naturally' are ones younger than 25 and with the Gender Fundamentalist (automatic gelding) policy active. Being able to get another +1 from somewhere else would at least let you get under-25 dickgirls with balls if you're running Facial Eugenics (over-24 dickgirls are still out of luck, since a 0/attractive face is all they can start with naturally). And in fact, the best face an XX slave can have naturally (according to 'Generate XX Slave') is 1, which means barring Face bonuses/implants (if any) from a slave market, the Facial Eugenics policy will force-sterilize ALL female slaves...

    - The 'Law Compliance' module contains both $FSTransformationFetishistSMR and $FSTransformationFetishistLaw, but the 'Policies' module has no mention of $FSTransformationFetishistLaw anywhere in it (all the laws were moved into there, correct?).

    - The Encyclopedia entry for Size Queens says that "they will enjoy relationships with well-endowed, virile slaves so much their partners will get Devotion benefits, too." but looking through SA Relationships the only Devotion changes I'm seeing for Size Queen are for the slave with it herself, not any partners.

    - The Halter Top and Ball Gown clothing options have no description inside Long Slave Description, so they default to "so her nude body is on display."

    - Conceptually/thematically, it seems like the Advocate quirk should probably benefit the Recruiter position in some way.

    - Request: Sterile/Barren option when creating XX slaves at the start of the game.

    - I know you used it as an example of a policy that would require sweeping changes to the code, but I actually would like (eventually) a Gender Fundamentalism-based policy that made all women slaves by law in the arcology. Just, so you know there's interest in that out there. You could maybe get around the 'having to change every mention of free women' thing by noting that they're retired, citizened slaves?

    - All of the family recruitment events (mother recruits daughter, sister recruits older sister, etc) have the recruited slave the exact same size/height as the recruiter. Some variance added to those events could model a mother recruiting a younger, shorter daughter - or a daughter recruiting her taller mother, that sort of thing.

    ... And now I get to take v0.7.10.1 home and fix all the bugs I found in v0.7.10 last night (and am about to email off to FCDev). Notably, Facial Eugenics ends up sterilizing nearly every slave - a 'natural' maxed-out face is impossible without facial surgery/implants (which most slave markets don't get) or other explicit face bonuses (which are mostly limited to the non-market events).

Humiliation fetishists would like it for sure, degradation society would approve, as would pastoral perhaps. Perhaps the descriptions would specify the animal based on the slave, with cows having cow tails, dominant or nymphos getting cat tails, subby sluts getting dog tails, and broken arcade fodder getting pig tails.

The "problem" I'm having is that my concubine used to gain me extra reputation because people "remember having her", which I suppose is thanks to the prestige earned as prostitute, but in the new game I don't receive this. So that begs the question, is it possible to earn prestige as prostitute again?

      By the way, besides this notorious prestige status, I noticed only one other instance that a slave earned prestige (headgirl earned it because the arcology relied on her), is there more ways? No need for spoiler, a yes or no answer is all I need!

  52. Bizarre futuristic governments that would want to run away and stick your had in the sand. Some of the governments have a "Brave New World" feel to them that is the stuff of nightmaes

    Reputation is a unforgiving when playing a young arcology owner. I estimate a 18% drop per week if no effort made on reputation.

    Is there any gain from investing into arcology improvements such as solar panels or computer network? If there is I don't see a
    corresponding gain to personal business and/or rents gain.

    Is the population of citizens always supposed to decrease and the slaves increase? If so, I am puzzled why the rents gain go up while the
    citizens goes down.

    On default setting, slaves almost always cost 2,500, despite the value of slaves continually going down. Is this working as intended?

    When buying slaves, it would make sense to be able to be presented with more options. An option to go back and buy the ones you passed
    over and/or the option the be presented with more than 1 slave at a time, perhaps even as little as 2 slaves and making a choice between
    the 2.

    It would make sense to able to either be told what the value of a slave is without paying the 500 fee or be able to figure it out from some sort of guideline

    Is the main brothel, arcade, and club main purpose to minimize the amount of text to scroll through? I'm not see seeing how it's a
    worthwhile investment otherwise.

    1. Investing in arcology improvements increases the prosperity cap that limits how far your rents can grow, and the higher the prosperity cap, the more your prosperity grows weekly.

      By default, citizens will shrink as a proportion of the population, but making efforts to reduce movement from citizens to slaves through policies or through some Future Societies (notably Paternalism, Roman Revivalism, and Egyptian Revivalism) may help reverse that, especially if backed up with citizen retirement for slaves and/or new citizen immigration. I believe the assumption is that when the number of citizens shrink, the property the former citizens used to rent is being rented by the fewer remaining citizens, thus not reducing the rents you collect.

    2. As to the purpose of the brothel, arcade, and club, there are a few benefits.

      1) each facility has upgrades that are not available to slaves in your main list (Though if you own the brothel but are underutilizing it the benefits transfer to Main.) These increase productivity. On average, a girl working a glory hole does not seem to earn as much as one in the arcade.
      2) Your Head Girl can only work on one slave each week, so having a Madam and DJ means that 3 girls are being improved.
      3) Advertising
      4) Easier to let the madam worry about balancing the drug addictions vs the curatives of 40 whore than doing it yourself.
      5) and yes, cuts down on infoglut. With 100 girls in your main feed you will not be able to see issues with the ones you are currently working on.

      1) The autosurgery does not touch them so if you are doing the Expansionist thing, they will be pneumatically handicapped.
      2) You lose control of of them and there is no way to tell the madam or DJ, "dress them like this, inject their boobs"

    1. I've only noticed this happening if a slave can't get an erection normally (gelded or on female hormones) and is also on aphrodisiacs.

      The code that describes her as being hard because of the aphrodisiacs doesn't 'care' whether she can naturally get hard, so you get this contradiction.

Looking at the FC Encyclopedia entry on the side, it looks like most are 'FC Justice' or 'FC Slave Acquisition', but some have no entries. I've had this problem in 7.10.0, 1, and 3. (2 was replaced too quickly for me to play it.)

  68. An issue: For the Security Force, it seems that it's impossible to set their accountability to anything higher than No Accountability.

    And a couple ideas: For the corporation. We can make massive investments, but why not massive sales? It seems silly to only be able to sell off my massive stock of slaves piecemeal when I've got three million's worth of them. And if we can name our Arcology, why not name our corporation?

    And for the Raider's Market. I love the idea, but it's too OP as it stands. Whoring them off, teaching them some sex skills, then reselling them at a major profit, is just way too easy. Prices at the market should be higher to reflect their high value. It also doesn't make sense in-universe that these high-risk targets would be sold for the same price as some random ugly older woman picked off the street.

    4. Kemonomimi outfit. Could be unspecified type for simplicity. Player can put type in under custom label.

    Glad you beefed the clinic heal. Last play I did I did not bother to make a clinic. I am wondering if I will bother with a spa still.

    I would suggest 45 age limit for child bearing since your thinking of it.

    You mentioned milked nipples in this update. So I made a test game, with starting slaves who had max nipples and milk output. I put some in the barn, and some I did not, but milked also.
    Went to turn 60. Nothing happened. Please give further info on this.

      Menial slaves are basically the same as Subordinate Servants, they do menial tasks like clean the floors and such. Bioreactors are similar to slaves you put in a maxed-out Industrial Dairy, they're basically people hooked up to milking machines permanently.

      Before this last update, giving a slave Lactation Implants only increased their breast size over time. Now, Lactation Implants can also increase nipple size (up to Huge).

  78. - In 'SA Chooses Own Job', the section that sends a slave off to the Spa to get a flaw softened only checks for the presence of the Spa, it doesn't check to see whether you have an Attendant in there (and without an Attendant, they can't get their flaw softened). Also, if I'm reading the code right there's a loophole - if a slave's Devotion/Trust is high enough, they'll never choose to visit the Spa, even if they have a flaw.

    - The 'secondary' FS descriptions for the Club (the ones that only show up if you have a few slaves working, describing things happening in side rooms) are great; any plans to add similar fluff to other facilities?

    - In a couple of earlier builds, breast injections had a chance to modify natural breast shape (IIRC, below 800cc or so they could go torpedo-shaped, and at really large sizes they could convert saggy breasts to 'normal' ones). This is no longer in the current build (that I can find, at least) but was a neat (and useful) feature. Please consider re-implementing it.

    - Would like to ask for a couple more FS-specific clothing options: Stolas (for Roman Revivalism) and Sheathe Dresses (for Egyptian Revivalism). Also, Posture Collars as a non-FS-specific collar.

  81. Future Society backsliding is ridiculous for an urban start. 30 weeks in and I've failed to enact gender radicalism at least 5 times (shemale + social engineering background) and a few others once each.

    At this point, I want to actually see the individual FS progress as a NUMBER, so I can tell how much cash I need to throw at it weekly just to keep it from rolling back to 0 again.

    1. Each 1000 you spend promoting your FS gives you +1 to your FS progress. An urban location substracts 2 from your FS progress. Rural location subtracts 1. Marine 0. There are other things that adds and subtracts from the above, and a couple policies reduces the penalty from the starting location. If your FS progress goes below zero, the FS fails.

      In general, if you choose to start in an urban location you should gain prosperity faster and thus make money faster compared to other starting locations. But it also means spending more to achieve your FS goal.

  85. Can you fully advance Youth Preferentialism? I does not seem to matter what I do, all the upgrades or throwing money at it...it is the only one where I cannot get it to "believes implicitly", it always stays at "very enthusiastic".

    1. Also according to the encyclopedia they should be a policy that helps you maintain reputation if your young, but I have never seen it. The only policy I got was the "Respect for Youth SMR"

    1. how big is your futa slave already? I think It maxes out at 30 cm, or at least soft caps. I think other factors affect growth chance as well, or maybe you're just getting unlucky with the rng.

The in game encyclopedia is usually at least a couple updates behind the actual patches, so stuff has been impediment or changed that doesn't always make it in the encyclopedia, I'm guessing due to a combination of time constraints and the fact that the author wants to put it out to the public before final decisions on what to keep are made.

    1. I haven't been seeing a problem there. With only one exception, all of my slaves have climbed to supernatural health while working the brothel. Maybe it has to do with their opinion of you or their drug situation. Give them some time in the clinic and/or boost them to devoted and see if that works

Getting so tired of losing fetishes I want my people to have to the randomness of the day's activities.     2. I find it unfortunate that slaves are limited to one fetish. I'd much prefer it if, say, they never lost fetishes (maybe unless you did something specific to stifle one, but there being no way for a slave to lose a fetish would be fine with me too), but the more they had the harder it would be for them to get any more.

  95. this was on the last version, so it might be out of date, but I was noticing that there was no progression with relationships before they jumped to marriage. This was two different scenarios. One where two slaves became friends, then in about 3 weeks asked to be wed. The second was between twins who has became FWB's one was still freaking out over the incest ramifications when they came up to be wed a little while later. It seems odd..

    1. The first case is just a conjunction of coincidences. Each slave gets her relationship checked and adjusted at the end of the week. But the check goes consequentially from slave to slave. So it's possible for Slave A to increase her relationship to Slave B only for Slave B to decrease her relationship with Slave A, resulting in no net change. It's also possible for both slaves to increase their relationship with the other, resulting in rapid progress of the relationship. So from friends to FWB to lover can indeed happen in the same turn. The marriage event gets checked afterward, and if both slaves have high enough trust and devotion, it could in theory fire up right away.

      In other words, it isn't a bug. Just a particularly rare set of coincidences.

      The second scenario is normal if your society isn't well into Egyptian Revivalist FS and the slave in question isn't at Worshipful.

The randomization of careers is really not very random; gives the same options over and over even with change education and skills and origin. I would like to make my own instead of trying in the market. Thanks Also the slave prices never seem to change even when the market indicators say that prices are higher or lower.

    1. There are a few indirect routes back, since there is a link to another settings page that will exit back to the main. If you select rules assistant options, continuing from there redirects to the main. Still a good bug to find now though.

  101. Could we get an option to sell related or paired slaves as a pair and get a suitable bonus to the price, rather than selling them one by one, where the first sale hurts the devotion, and therefore price, of the second?

    Also could we get the option to transfer slaves directly between facilities rather than having to release them from their current one first?
