ALPHA 0.9.9: Tempting Targets

This update adds events and revises the flow of the intro; since it does not make major mechanical changes, it will not break previous saves. Other than that, I don't have much to add to the changelog, other than to reiterate what a good bug report looks like. Simple bugs like error messages, grammar issues, etc. can be reported briefly in the comments. On the other hand, more involved bugs like cash or reputation turning into $cash and $reputation are difficult to fix unless I can replicate the issue. If you're not sure what caused the problem, please send me a save from before the issue occurred, if you have one. The gold standard bug report for a complex bug is an email with an attached save that says something along the lines of "hitting End Turn turns my cash into $cash." Catching the bug in action makes killing it very easy for me.

Saves from versions before 0.9.7 are incompatible, but 
0.6+ saves are eligible for New Game Plus. Latest hotfix is 0.9.9.6 (1720 March 8), save compatible.

Updated introduction
  • During the introduction, the game will generate a number of existing arcologies to target for the initial takeover.
  • Existing arcologies have names, locations, prosperities, demographics, and partial progress towards a single future society choice.
  • If an existing arcology with a future society is targeted, the slaves acquired with the arcology will match that society.
  • The option to take over a newly constructed arcology and thereby follow the preexisting introduction is always available.

  • Updated the way slaves are added to the game, qualifying many more slaves for certain events.
  • Implemented new and more efficient lisp code, which should be applicable to preexisting code once thoroughly playtested.
  • Added generic event fetish progress code, which likewise should be applicable to old events once playtested.
  • Recoding for better performance and reliability; this usually appears in changelogs, but this update is unusually intensive in this regard.
  • Bugfixes.

  2. I posted this last time, but it was a little late and I'm not sure if anyone saw it. Thought I might try again. Thanks for your continued hard work on this! I wanted to propose a feature, if you are not too busy. I was wondering if it were possible to implement some kind of ballbusting or castration punishment either as a random event, for naughty and disobedient male slaves caught doing something perverted, or for the player (as a kind of game over script). Maybe a perverted male slave or citizen was peeping or snooping around the girls' private quarters and got caught, and now the girls demand that they get to punish him (with varying severity options)? You may end up with a newly-made eunuch slave as a result, depending on what you choose. Some option or flavor text that involves the girls teasing their newly-made eunuch with their sexy bodies (which it can no longer enjoy) would be wonderful! I admit to having a ballbusting/castration fetish, and I wish there were more detail put into when a male loses his precious balls and penis, including when the player forces him to get nullification surgery, as well as teasing from the girls towards eunuchs. I hope something like this wouldn't be too hard to implement! Thanks! :)

  5. To mirror the two comments above, Pastoralist arcology generated 150 slaves, all of which matched the one pre-made slave's nationality and ethnicity. Game was crawling from the get-go. Maybe scale things down a bit?

  6. Starting New Game Plus, then enabling the security force mod kicks the new game menu back to player character customization. I can provide a savegame if this isn't reproducible.

  8. First time around, I picked Sanctuary, placed in the ocean. I started with 145 slaves.

    Second time, I picked Purity, placed in Asia. I set slave trade to continental. All my starting slaves (7) had the nationality "_Slave.nationality" and all the slaves in the market had a blank nationality.

  10. Started a New Game in 9.9.1 and bought the first acrology upgrade and noticed locations showing $ACitizens.

    From the manage screen:
    The central plaza is a large open atrium lined with banners. Some feature prizewinning cows. A security drone occasionally flies across the open space. $ACitizens citizens, 1040 sex slaves, and 2080 menial slaves live in Plenty. Its lingua franca is English.

  12. Some of the slaves you create don't actually cost you anything, it happened twice with non-consecutive slaves.
    Also, I got some 80+ slaves when starting a pre-established Paternalist arcology. Like with everyone else, it takes a long time (5 minutes+) to actually start the first turn.

    2. and now i see that with a lot of starting slaves, you have to have the vector art disabled on listed slaves, or it will not load the first turn. i just deleted the resources folder for the game to finish loading, disabled vector art in options and restored the resources folder afterwards

  14. @FCAuthor I asked this in the last update thread as well, but thought I'd ask again. I was wondering if we would get back the Dropbox download option? If it's a pain for you to set up, or Dropbox has some sort of restriction that makes it so you can't anymore, then I apologise and understand why you're not going through the trouble. However if it is possible the I ask that up please make that an option again as it was the easiest to use for me, both on my tablet as I don't have the mega app, nor can I get it, and my mac, well, mega doesn't like safari, and chrome doesn't like me.
    Also, thank you for all the effort you've put into this game, it's been fun to play through the many changes and updates you've made since I started playing back at version... 0.4.1 or 0.5.1 some little old number.

  16. Two small notes from this latest version - first, I can't seem to undo contact lenses. Second, one of the pregnant hares (I can provide a save game if you'd like - just tell me how! Is there a specific but reporting email? Unfortunately I only have the save after the error has occurred) has a broken link for the original art.   17. After downloading 0.9.9.1 I attempted to start a Cheat Start but the first slave comes up with the following in her description:

    Before she was a slave, she was a maid, giving her experience following orders. Currently, she has an attractiveness score of 52 and a sexual score of 2.

She speaks Chinese in a thick $activeSlave.nationality accent that can be hard to understand. Her hair is brown. She has a simple stud in her nose. She has a simple stud in one eyebrow.   18. I am also having issues. Two issues I've found. Note. Playing on mobile. I've deleted my downloads and currently redownloading them.

    1. Security force. When starting a new game, going through the generic opening. Finally on the finalize screen, I notice security force didn't activate. Clicking to enable, resets me back to the owner customization screen. And infinite loop.

    2. After leaving security force disabled, figuring I would turn it on in the settings. I reached the slave customization. Customized my perfect head girl, and moved on. To notice. My hg didn't cost anything! Literally free. Seems to good to be true. Except, when you reach the acology (idk how to spell it) summarizing screen, click continue, and the game simply freezes.

    (I've never commented on anything. So if my issue is solved by deleting and redownloading the game, I'll delete my reply)

  19. New game in .3, taking over existing arcology. Custom slave generation nationality options look weird. There's an alphabetical list (American through Zimbabwean), and then what I'm guessing a world-population-adjusted list starts immediately after - lots of Chinese | Chinese (etc), then Indian, then American, and so on.

  20. This game is getting more updates than most AAA games. Sorry to hear about the latest issues, as I'm unavailable to actually test them myself.

    However, I wanted to ask if the author would be willing to add some updates to the way you can deal with your slaves(how he put it himself - "some more updates for those who like to pet their slaves on the head")? Currently, there is no way to get closer to your slaves once you break them and the flavor text pretty much remains the same after a while. What do you think?

  25. Trying to use the new game + on a new arcology sends me on a loop back to the start screen after selection. Usually it ends up starting fine the second time through, but it sucks when one of the first set of Arcologies was exactly what I wanted. :(

  26. .4 Chinese revivalist arcology start sometimes creates two head girls.
    Also for Chinese Revivalist, when selling a slave, it does not display the proper Player Title, instead shows:

    She extracts a tablet from one of her wide sleeves and reviews video of the slave in action before performing a physical inspection. Then she seats herself, stows her tablet again, and recites in a didactic tone, "Honored Error: <>: bad evaluation: State.variables.titles is undefined my appraisals are based on a slave's potential income as a prostitute, with modifiers for special characteristics.

      A new rule will then be created full of errors, including bad evaluation, bad init expression, and cannot execute macro. Attempting to delete this also creates a pop-up error.

    On the main menu:

    As soon as the Penthouse Report appears:

    And then back to this once the main menu re-appears:

    Also, the slaves that are given to you when you take over a Paternalist arcology all appear to be set to be servants except they aren't and will rest that turn and be set to rest the next turn.

  31. 0.9.9.4 still has the issue of localised trade. I pick a new arcology in Asia, disable intercontinental slave trade and still get Moroccan and Yemeni slaves on the market.

  33. Would it be possible to change the mercenaries so that they call you sir/madam/boss or something? Or at least have them call you by the default title for your gender rather than any custom one you set? It seems pretty odd that you'd have paid employees call you by the same title as your slaves.

    Also, seeing the captain of the mercenaries call the player character "Daddy" was all kinds of weird.

    1. I have same thing even with 41 years old slaves. As far as i remember it's been same since 9.2.1.

    2. There was a problem with values being flipped in an older version, so older slaves ended up with the effect instead of younger ones. I saw patch notes for a fix and didn't encounter the issue since then.

      In my current playthrough's case, it's also possible that this specific slave was generated wrong. She was the nurse from the rebel attack event chain, and that slave may have special rules for how she's generated.

    New Game Plus from a v9.8.2 save ignores continental restriction for slave trade. So does a simple New Game
    Attempting to create a slave, related to a slave, previously obtained, during the game start result in only one slave being marked as another slave's relative. Goes for both New Game and New Game Plus.

    I'm not good with coding (boy, now that's an understatement), but as far as i get, chance that an obedient slave will try to recruit her family member to you are flat, independent from anything, so i wanted to ask, if it possible (and if yes - will you make it?) to make this happen more often, if the Egyptian Revivalism is promoted in arcology?

  45. BUG - at least one slave in my current fresh .6 game is "invisible" to personal attention.

    I've reported this bug in an earlier version. What happens is that a slave can be chosen for personal attention, but the weekly summary does not show the PA paragraph, and next week the slave is still unchanged. This bug has not recurred for a while, so I assumed it was gone.

    A similar, possibly related issue is that certain slaves seem to be ignoring rules settings. Specifically, slaves with accents can be put on accent elimination rules, but sometimes the slave's main screen summary will not list a language rules setting AT ALL (despite the rules being available and selected on the slave's individual page). In most cases, the rules settings eventually show up, so this may be caused by some combination of devotion/trust/intelligence or something.

  47. BUG - RESS event, personal assistant flirting with slave version. Several sentences are missing compared to an earlier version, possibly due to the assistant skin/future society revamp.

    Starting page, before choices are made, sentence after the paragraph break starts with a lower case letter, as if description is missing:

    "I love your cock," the slave sighs wistfully. "I'd love to be that big." (paragraph break) your personal assistant looks pleased. "Yeah, it's pretty great," she giggles.

    Get the slave to get to the point choice has missing info in the last paragraph, specifically the description of what the avatar and the slave are doing (there used to be a description of what they're engaged in, after which the "vanilla" comment makes sense):

    Several minutes later, your personal assistant's avatar reappears on your desk, SLAVE NAME probably isn't thinking about how far this is from vanilla human sexuality at the moment. But if she took a moment to reflect, you muse, she might be surprised at what she's learned to be comfortable with.

  50. When creating a new slave at the game start, the cost of the slave does not show up. This problem existed for a while.

    Import of rules for rule manager doesn't seem to be working, at all. Exporting a rule and instantly importing it back results in a lot of error messages.

    Something who could be good = a "add all" for some facility (the most obvious one being the schoolroom, where (when uplifted) they are quite a lot of slave who are release but still can make good use of the structure, but require to be send in on each new turn, until fully processed..

    That or add (could be more difficult to code given the variety of related value to consider) an "education" value (of sort..) in the rules main parameter (as to have an auto assign for the slave who can make use of it, knowing that it goes quite a long way from basic I(II)+E, since it also teach langua Franca, birth process, moderate skills (sex and courtesan), not sure if that is all, still, adding again and again the same npc ..

Hello a little I know the game and I find it entertaining, while playing in the early part the marking of funds first the upkeep and then money are changed to a code and when the money changes it turns red I do not know if it damages the copy When I download it or if there is a bug I pass a text.     hola hace poco que conozco el juego y lo encuentro entretenido, mientras jugaba en la parte temprana el marcado de fondos primero el upkeep y después el dinero se cambian a un código y cuando el dinero cambia se pone en rojo no se si sea que dañe la copia cuando la baje o si aya algún bug les paso el texto . saludos.
