ALPHA 0.10.2: Flagship Store

This update focuses on fixing bugs and longstanding issues, and on building out several mechanics added over the past two updates.

Since this update adds several new facilities to the new arcology construction mechanic, I'll explain what my general goal for this system. FC has always been a game in which the sex slaves themselves are fundamentally unlimited in terms of who they are and what they can be forced to do. In compensation, FC needs more tradeoffs; good games force the player to specialize to an extent. As such, all lategame arcologies will not be equally good at everything. For example, this update adds a new Sweatshop facility to the Service level, and upgrades to the existing Arcade and Dairy facilities, each of which gives bonuses to one and only one of the types of menial slaves. It's now possible to specialize in slave milking harder than ever before, but at the cost of limited Sector space.

Saves from previous versions are incompatible, but 
0.6+ saves are eligible for New Game Plus.

0.10.2 changelog

Arcology construction
  • Constructing a spire now adds two additional levels of two apartment sectors each; the direct effects of the upgrade on the prosperity cap have been removed.
  • The Arcade and Dairy have received new upgrades that improve the productivity of any menial Fuckdolls or Bioreactors present in the arcology, respectively.
  • Added Sweatshops for sectors on the Service level, each of which will greatly improve the productivity of a limited number of standard menial slaves.
  • Expanded the corporate slave market into a buildable facility on the Concourse level, which will improve corporate performance based on the PC's reputation.
  • Replaced the placeholder Barracks on the Service level with a simple facility with some descriptive vignettes, without which mercenary upkeep costs are doubled.
Population mechanics
  • Apartment sectors now affect both citizen and slave populations, with Dense Apartments favoring citizens and Luxury Apartments favoring slaves.
  • Policies that affect population will no longer fire during weeks in which the citizen population is at its maximum or minimum values and the effect will not happen.
  • Added privately owned slave population fluctuations, largely based on slave price and arcology prosperity.

  • Random individual event for devoted, educated slaves.
  • Random individual event for devoted, short slaves.
  • Random individual event for devoted fucktoys.
  • Random individual event for public servants.
  • Recruitment event involving an old world royal family.

  • Physical aphrodisiac effects are now associated with taking aphrodisiacs, not with aphrodisiac addiction.
  • Added a new hard limit on arcology minority shares to help ensure that shares become available for purchase.
  • Edo Revivalism progress is tallied for each public servant over the demanded number, not just once.
  • Changed the way the Rules Assistant handles contraceptives to allow automatic contraceptive regime use for all slaves who aren't barren.

    "INCOMPATIBLE SAVE WARNING: your saved game was created using version 0.10.2 build 1006. Please select New Game Plus from the Options menu or start a new game."

  3. Can anyone else get EDO revivalism to work at all? I got up to week 40 and closed the game down because I was getting too frustrated with the future societies. I had a full club and a full master suite, so earning plenty of reputation every turn and I was both never advancing Edo Revivalism and my final Future society (boy they unlocked fast) kept failing... all the while the other future societies kept popping upgrades to build every turn.

    I think there's something fucky going on here.

    1. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. This was already an issue in the last update, and when I saw it mentioned in the changelog, I couldn't wait to give it a try. Looks like it wasn't fixed yet. At least it doesn't fail immediately anymore, but yeah, it's impossible to raise. The problem is that to advance it, you need to put in more public servants, which increases your reputation, but as your reputation increases, people demand more public servants. You never reach equilibrium unless you rush to max reputation and pump out more and more slaves, which isn't my play style at all.

  4. Would it be possible for our Arcology Owner to have their own personal tattoo as a symbol of status among their slaves? Where their most accomplished and trusted slaves would have an event to be tattooed with the AO's personal seal, increasing their sale value because the seal is a stamp of quality, and having a positive effect on other slaves in the same job, since the marking would be a sign of special status and privilege. (I personally tattoo my favorite slaves with a tattoo at the hollow of their throat and I would LOVE to have such a tattoo have a positive effect on slaves, probably yellow and up).

  7. Had a problem this game that I've never had before, along with a unique situation. I funded the raid on the illegal laboratory (the herm, name of Nazi (Iranian, not a German National Socialist)), and enslaved her. Regular enough. The -very- next event/screen, was that same herm then asking for her mother (Saba) to be enslaved, the 'daughter recruitment' I believe.

    Upon fucking them together the next day, taking all 4 of their virginities (and always getting the devotion boost from personally taking them), it seems normal when fucking the mother with the daughter, from the daughter's page, the mother is staring daggers at her daughter. However, from the mother's page, I got this:

    You call both Nazi and $partner.slaveName to your office. Since between them they aren't able to enthusiastically perform a threesome, you simply line Nazi and $partner.slaveName up next to one another on the couch next to your desk, and fuck indo-aryan holes at will. Whenever a hole begins to pall you just switch to another. Nazi tries hard to ignore the fact that she's getting fucked next to her _partnerRel, and $partner.slaveName pretends the cock getting shoved into her isn't slick from her _activeSlaveRel's fuckhole. Error: <>: error within widget contents (Error: <>: bad evaluation: can't assign to properties of (new String("relation")): not an object) Error: <>: bad conditional expression in <> clause: State.variables.slaves[State.temporary.i] is undefined

    Upon going back to the main page, I realized that a second Nazi had popped up, one that kept retaining virginities despite all the "remove combined chastity belt" + scroll up + fuck her / fuck her ass + Confirm Changes that I did, resulting in a nigh constant devotion boost. Upon loading the autosave, the 2nd herm Nazi disappeared, Saba was in her proper place as a "mere" accepting 33 year old (pregnant when she was 15?) slave, and Nazi was once again a dual-virginity slave, though not repeatedly.

  9. Yeah, I noticed that I'm getting a 'buy one, get one free' deal on the shotgun match event. Also, when I take a look at the rooms filled. I'm getting #.5 in both normal rooms and in luxury rooms. Not literally "#.5" but for instance 1.5, I'm fairly sure that I don't have any slaves that can be in two places at once, so I think it's a bug. One last thing, I think there's something going on with the difficulty. I'm doing easy economics, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to stay out of debt. It's not that I just suck at the game, because I've gotten all the way through the Daughters of Liberty arc on normal difficulty before, and I was (usually) able to keep myself out of the red after the first few weeks.

    But on a more serious note (not that this wasn't), when will we get a total denial option in the release rules? This matters a lot and is the only actual *deficiency* I can ascribe to the game as it stands. I mean there is stuff that can be added and improved, but nothing else seems like a straigh con about it.

    * a slave got duplicated (was able to sell the duplicated version).
    * it lists servant's quarters as 5/5 but there's only 2 in (yet at the bottom it says "the servant's quarters is full".)

  14. If you set the rules assistant option to 'let girls choose their own job' it overwrites Headgirl and makes her choose a new job. I assume it does the same thing for other specific positions like recruiter and bodyguard

    2. Right, I just don't know if it was by design or not. The auto didn't used to do that, so I reported it when it started. Before it would set everything as typical and the 'choose their own job' option would ignore special slaves, but everything else would apply. Worst come to worst one can create a brand new rule specifically for special slaves, just a pain and such.

  16. BUG - arcology ownership %

    Currently, ownership % does not update when a purchase is made. Instead, it is recalculated when the player clicks the "manage arcology" link. As a result, it is possible (assuming enough $) to buy everything in the arcology at once, leaving the player with 100% control "against X% owned by the second most significant holder."

    1. On a related note, fuckdoll/bioreactor conversion is technically broken. Player can convert slaves even if doing so puts player into debt, which makes it easy to churn out cash in three clicks once the slave price is high enough (and you're not paternalist):

      a) wait until slave price is 1100+;
      b) turn market into arcade;
      c) upgrade arcade to create fuckdolls;
      d) buy ALL the slaves you can afford;
      e) turn ALL the slaves into fuckdolls (temporarily in debt);
      f) sell ALL the fuckdolls;
      g) repeat, with a profit of 100 per slave (or higher if price above 1100);
      h) for greater efficiency, turn manufacturing into pens (which raises max # of slaves and thus $ generated with each pass).

      Is this working as intended?

    Unhealthy slaves still are not resting by themselves.

    The "Economic tabs on weekly reports" is set up in reverse, with the tabs showing if set to "Disabled", and vice versa. Also, clicking on Enable/Disable takes you to the setup screen for a new arcology.

  19. BUG - disproportionally sized butts (too large for hips) only show red in the text on the slave's individual page, not in the overall list.

    Personally, I suspect the Transformation FS is connected to the issue, because the last time I noticed/reported it, the "disp" tags appeared in the overall summary only after I committed to TF FS.

  20. BUG during the PESS event (head girl says she loves you, choices are to spend night as equals / pull her in as you work / victimize something together)

    Normally, the game picks the slave lowest on the list (by devotion) to victimize. This time, when the event fired, all slaves were at max (100) devotion, and the head girl happened to be at the bottom of the overall list (because other slaves moved up due to events or surgeries). So choosing to victimize something resulted in HG victimizing herself.

    In hindsight, I should have guessed this would happen, as the current HG is both a sadist and a painal queen with "Switch" as her nickname. I just didn't know she was also schizophrenic.

    Oh, and the HG's name remains clickable (a blue link) regardless of which choice the player picks, which gives potential for abuse through an old issue.

    1. Just hit the event again, and it pointed to HG as the victim despite HG not being the slave with the lowest devotion. I think the event/choice is using HG instead of finding an appropriate slave to target.

    1. Oh boy, don't get me started on cup sizes, I could go on about those like slave prices and hair colors. It's weird effed' off cup sizes like DD and DDD that confuse people the most. You are not alone! Basically, DD cup and E cup are one in the same, it all depends on how confusing the bra manufacturer wants to make things for everybody. Most systems that have a DD size have either a DDD or an E after it, which is equivalent to an F cup in systems that DON'T use DD at all.

      The free cities breast sizing system uses a bizarre compromise. In this particular system, DD comes after D, probably because of its widespread use, and then the next size up is F, keeping in line with more sensible systems that eschew confusing double letter sizes. I consider this a charming idiosyncracy of the free cities sizing system. (So yeah, I believe it's intentional.)

      Think of it this way, E cup isn't missing, DD is just an E cup in disguise.

  25. BUG - last Daughters of Liberty plot event (vague for spoilers).

    The options to sell/give away attackers mention that a specific slave will not be included in this decision, but that slave never makes it to the player's slave list.

    Choosing "enslave all" does result in that specific slave being enslaved, however, so this is an issue of that specific slave not being excluded from the other two decisions.

Hey, I'm a big fan of this game and I know that you're busy fixing bugs and adding new features, but I was wondering if you could design a way for certain ethnicities or nationalities to be excluded in their entirety? I just don't find certain ethnicities attractive, but I don't wanna use a Future Society option on superiority or inferiority for both mechanical and personal reasons. I know that in general I can just choose not to take or buy certain slaves, or that I can remove most mentions of nationality or ethnicity in the starting options menu, but there's a few slaves that are worth too much to pass up, and even with those options on, there's some things that just slip through. Plus, I don't mind the nationality nicknames so much, I just don't generally find people of certain nationalities attractive.

    1. I suppose part of this depends both on how specific or broad your interests (or lack thereof) are, but you can restrict the slave trade to regional. Obviously if it's something like enjoying Korean girls but not Japanese then that would complicate matters, but that's a starting suggestion to at least rule out the use of that option as an effective ethnicity suppressant.
      For instance, if you don't find European girls attractive, head to Africa or Asia (or Latin America?) and set trade to regional (starting option: "They did what little they could to stop it") and that should suppress a lot of these instances. I never play with it on, but I have tried it and it seems to work relatively well.

  30. In order to keep up the misconception that I have some sort of hair fetish...

    BUG:
    Red, green, blue, and pink hair color options have gone missing from the auto salon. There are neon variants of these colors now, but they don't currently function with the vector art mod. This problem can be bypassed by changing hair color via the customize menu (easy), -or- fixed by renaming the appropriate hair files in resources\vector\body\addon (advanced).
    *FC Author, please note, If the hair color names are going to be changed, the hair files in the vector art mod will also have to be renamed ...again.

    BUG:
    Some of the descriptions for luxurious hair are missing, this is affected by hair length and clothing.

    OVERSIGHT:
    There is no way to set hairstyle during initial slave customization.
    It isn't a big deal to do it afterward via the customize menu, but I just thought I would point it out.

    1. ...On second thought, changing the file names in the vector art mod to match the neon variants would be a bad idea. The game still generates slaves with natural red hair, so you'd just be trading one problem for another. A better fix would be to make copies of the normal red, green, blue, and pink .svg files and rename the copies to match these weird new neon variants. You would have redundant files, but they would work at least.

      Or you can just ignore the auto salon entirely and use the customize menu like I've been doing.

      I still have to ask why the Dev changed the auto salon hair colors to begin with. -And why only the auto salon? This seems like a change made just for the sake of changing things.

Hey, this might just be a slight immersion problem, but it doesn't really make sense to be able to be able to build a market for your corporation before you've even had the idea to start one up. Also, is there any way to make a rules assistant option that affects ONLY special slaves? I understand that being your 'favorites' you'll likely spend more time with them, but I'd like to be able to set specific rules for my HG, bodyguard, and recruiter without having to go through jury-rigging the rules assistant to make most of the rules not affect them, but only one or two rules affect ONLY them.

    P.S. Could you possibly have the facility 'leaders' get the ability to have their own rulesets? E.G. I have rules set specifically for my cows that I'd rather my Cowhand not follow. Plus it makes more sense for the slaves in charge to have altered rules or more privileges than the ones they're supervising.

  32. I moved from 0.9.8.2 to 0.10.2 and found that the rendered images on the slave's long summary display aren't properly justified to the right. The image thus intrudes on the text. I've looked at the code and can't see any change to the artWidgets that could cause this. However, margins on the text are different now. The problem appears on both Chrome and Firefox.

    Has anyone else found this too? My suspicion is that changes to the CSS may have changed the way the text flows, but that's just a wild guess on my part.

    1. Yeah, okay, so the CSS has been changed and it's why the images are overlapping with the text. If the image is set at 531 pixels, why is the CSS is making space for 600 pixel images? And why are the margins set at -100 pixel?

      Here's what I'm using now.

  36. I feel like the arcology slaves(menials and the like) system needs some serious expansion. Right now it's just a press button to get more number thing.

    Perhaps, when a sufficient number in a given type is held an event is unlocked with a "day in the life of" feel for one of your classes of slave. Eventually, this event would be informed by a selection of customisation options allowing you to determine the broader properties of slaves in your arcology.

    For example, some of these options could include chatsising menials and forcing them to earn orgasms through exemplary service. Or the transition away from traditional fuckdoll suits towards augmented bimbos so extensively drugged they spend their entire lives profoundly aroused.

    These would exist for roleplaying purposes, and largely just add flavour(and sometimes some minor monetary performance enhancements, because why not) to the entire menials system. Making them feels less like random numbers you own for the sake of spending money when you reach the endgame and scarcity is a distant memory.

    As in, instead of just being recounted with the fact your menials made approximately no money at the end of every week, you might be told a brief story about a random sexually frustrated sissy(sex probabilities determined by the same probability as the options selected for normal slave generation) maid and how the perpetual damp patch of precum on the front of her skirt leaking from her chastity cage earns her the demerits that prevent her from getting relief. Or informed of how your fuckdoll customisations have put them all into bitch suits that force them to crawl blindly on all fours desperately seeking the sexual contact that might briefly relieve the profound lust forced on them by their drug regimes.

    Or, on the flipside, your menials could all be naked sweatshop workers, and your fuckdolls could be customised into little more than slightly off key geisha themed prostitutes. Whichever floats the user's boat, and whichever better suits the tone of the arcology they're trying to build. The point is not to have the particular events listed here, but to be able to flavour the way day to day life in the arcology is supposed to work. Giving the user the feeling that their decisions have an effect, rather than just adding more numbers to their numbers.

    The reason this would only be available after a certain number of slaves are owned is because none of these slaves would actually exist. It would essentially be a randomly generated text block, and getting two events about two obviously different slaves when you don't actually own any menials would stick out rather badly.

    This is a pretty big change, and involves a lot of text. So it would be built up over time rather than implemented all at once, but I really would like to be able to see the effects policymaking has on the lives of people in the arcology. Particularly in the context of the arcology slaves because, well, slaves are kind of the point here.

    Also, while we're on the topic, can the menial pens be made extensible like other buildings(albeit at gradations of five hundred rather than five). Just for those of us who want to make sure there's at least two slaves for every private citizen in the arcology. You know, for, uh... Reasons.

  43. Corporation income is totally broken. Even on 'crushing' difficulty, having to pay weekly sums of up to a billion in bribes, income is well over four billion a turn. In a little under three hundred weeks(from gamestart, started the corporation up late due to problems with bad weather and an ensuing debt cycle).

    At that income, it takes five turns(give or take) for enough money to be gathered to upgrade the penthouse such that it's capacity for slaves is greater than the entire arcology's capacity for literally everybody else put together.

    1. Quick update, week 318, weekly corporation income is now 181 billion credits(it's gotten forty times larger in just shy of forty weeks). It takes a mere twenty billion-ish to build a bigger penthouse than the total possible population of the arcology. With this income it literally takes 'less than' one week to build an even bigger arcology that the original arcology then wears as some kind of hat.

      Total corporation weekly profit is over three hundred billion a week.

      This makes the post apocalyptic slaving corporation more monetarily productive than the entirety of the modern US. Meanwhile, the private income of an arcology owner who is, at best, at the head of twenty thousand people, is greater than the entire GDP of the United Kingdom.

      Corporation needs to be redesigned with diminishing returns - which allows share prices to be more stable and act as liquidity injectors, rather than ever escalating but failing to keep up checks on exponential dividend growth - while dividends themselves need to be set to a total that is calculated against all shares than than a base value multiplied by the shares held.

      An example formula would be something like Dividend^1.6 = [total stocks in segment], the dividend base income value for that segment(drugs, slaves, etc), which is then multiplied by a function of the segment's trading value(high or very high prices probably mean shares are making unusually large amounts of money, causing an upswing in their trading value). All the results are then tallied up by segment to caulcate the total dividend, which is divided by all shares in cirulation, and multiplied by personal shares.

      Using this formula, a market segment with 10,000,000 credits invested would have a base economic return of a mere ~24,000. The base 10,000,000 might be able to be acquired when shares were trading very low(i.e. cost radically less than the listed price), and the 24,000 might go through multiplication when shares are very high(i.e. deliver radically more than the listed value), but nevertheless the income stabilises. After a point, it essentially refuses to progress further. Preventing a situation wherein a single arcology related corproation is more productive than the entirety of the modern world. Which I estimate I will hit under the current formula in a few months of game time.

      Well, to be honest, considering it's the profit that's higher than the US' GDP, and not the gross product(which is a measure of productivity not profitability), this corporation is already likely far larger than the economy of the modern world. As it's probably making multiple trillions in activity weekly to make that kind of profit.

      Corporations are absurdly broken right now.

    1. Not necessarily. The option to remove foreskin SHOULD only appear on female slaves with a prominent clitoral hood. (Check the last paragraph in their descriptions.) Technically this structure comes from the same stem cells as male foreskin so... yeah.

    1. There was a change in the save system for performance, and it broke backwards compatibility for saves that are kept in your browser's "local storage." If you go back to an earlier version that worked for you and save your game to a file, then clear your browser's cache, it should work for you and you can load the old game from file. Once you've loaded the old save, go to options menu -> apply backwards compatibility update.

I am seem to be recent have gotten bug where my slave names cannot be clicked from main menu, and options such as Bodyguard, Recruiter, Head Girl, and focusing on whatever, are just completely gone. Where slave names should be I get an Error: <>: bad conditional expression in <> clause: tagName is undefined message, and this has started during 10.1.0. However, this bug only started happening a week or so after I started playing 10.1.0, which I initially had no problems with.

  53. Hey FCDev, you should really choose a license for your game. It's open source (kind of by necessity) and this could lead to all kinds of trouble for you if it's not explicitly licensed.
    I recommend GPL, but I'm also a commie, so you might not be a fan of that. You might prefer MIT or BSD license instead. Maybe ask Spaghetti Code some time, I know he helps you with git.
    It's really as simple as just picking one and throwing it onto the git repo, so don't worry about it being difficult or anything like that.

    5. Got to agree with licensing. As it stands, Free Cities and all derivative works are your intellectual property. This means that you could be held legally responsible for anything that a certain troublesome mod implements.

      Also, copyleft ensures that it will be free for everyone in the future. Freedom for everyone is more important than slightly more freedom for one person. BSD just gives you the freedom to restrict the freedom of others.

    BUG: Several of the pre-made slaves need updating
    Example: Beatrice (No. 525), has "pure white" skin. This is not a valid skin tone, even the vector art mod renders her with normal-looking tan skin. Giving her normal pale skin would work just as well.

      Go to the game's options page (or any page where you don't see the arcology diagram), open your browser's developer tools (usually F12), go to the console, type in the following two lines, hitting Enter after each line:

      Close the developer console and go check your arcology sectors.

  56. I have a rule to have unhealthy slaves automatically go to the clinic.

    This is so buggy the following stuff happens:
    * The slave is duplicated and then NEITHER is healed.
    * If the slave is moved out of the clinic, there's only one again, if moved back to the clinic the above reoccurs.
    * If one of the duplicates is sold, the other vanishes from the clinic list if they were the only one, if another slave is there or gets moved in later, the old one reappears.

I tested this by changing the "Unhealthy Slaves" rule to assign slaves to the Clinic, using the latest version on git, and none of these problems occurred (unhealthy slaves were moved to the Clinic, not duplicated, and were properly healed in the weekly report, and removing from the clinic facility page worked as expected), so all of this should be resolved by the next release.

  58. Bug: Starting a racial supremacist arcology automatically gives the FS option "0 inferiority" along with it, where "0" I imagine is where a different racial group would go. However, you can delete that FS option and immediately pursue a different FS and it doesn't seem to count against the total since as of right now I have Youth Preferentialism, White Supremacy, Slimness Enthusiasm, Gender Traditionalism and Body Purism yet it's telling me I've only unlocked 4 of 5 FS options.

    I basically wrote a bunch of extra detail to the descriptions for the visits to the Futanari Sisters as I was very inspired by what was already in there. I'd like to post it somewhere to get feedback or maybe offer it as mod since it would probably be pretty simple but I've never done any coding before so I'd have to figure that out from the ground up or make it available for someone else to do it anyway.

    I feel a bit awkward just throwing it up somewhere because it retains nearly all of original text but with extra sentences and paragraphs bolted around that. Other option is to just email FC_Author directly but I kinda wanted to see what people thought about it.

    What is the chance that we might get something like a capacity to segment parts of each facility?

    What I mean is this: I want to place some girls through the hell that is the industrial dairy while also keeping some as happy free range cows.

    I would also like to echo the suggestion for an expansion that makes facilities more open-ended like the dairy. For instance, I imagine having the capacity to have the brothel aphrodisiac injector upgrade set to off, on, or heavy doses etc at will.

    1. New Game Plus uses this formula to calculate starting money.

      Math.clamp(1000*Math.trunc($cash/100000), 5000, 1000000)

      Do a search for that formula. That's what you want to change. You can change the formula or even just replace it altogether with a fixed number.

    1. No idea when the next update is due, but you can get interim builds (work in progress) from the github repository. The duplication bug is already fixed there. Direct link: https://github.com/Free-Cities/Free-Cities/archive/master.zip

      If you download that (the link above will always point to the latest code) and unpack all of its contents into some folder, inside there you will find a "compile.bat" (assuming you use Windows), and if you run that (just double-click), it will show a black window for a moment (you might see a warning about a missing file, but don't worry about it). The result of running "compile.bat" is that it will create/update an "FC.html" file inside the "bin" directory. You can play the game using that HTML.

      If you are brave, you can even go poke around in the "src" directory and edit the files there, then re-run "compile.bat" to re-build the HTML with your own changes. Just remember you refresh your browser window after you re-compile the game, so it will read your modified HTML.

      Three caveats about using interim builds from github:

      1. If you START a game using the compiled HTML, it will complain that the version is incompatible. This is a false alarm and you can ignore it. It's because the version number is not being set by the compile script on Windows, so the game actually doesn't know what version you are using.

      2. If you load a saved game from a different version/build, before doing anything else, go to the options menu (in-game) and click the "apply backwards compatibility update" link at the top. This will update your save to work with any new content that has been added (assuming the backwards compatibility code was updated properly by whoever added the new content). There is no harm if you apply the backwards compatibility update more than once; it just won't have any effect.

      3. If you report problems here, be sure to mention the fact that you are using a build from github.

  72. I recently finished the final plot event, but instead of enslaving the arcology owner I let her go free, with the promise of owning her arcology. Maybe I was foolish, because her arcology never showed up in the list of neighbors (all were still governed by either elected officials or oligarchs, and none with a clearly opposed Future Society), but upon letting her go I received only the slave. Her acology was still nowhere to be found, and no further text or tooltips showed up mentioning that this deal had occurred.

    I foolishly thought that maybe her arcology was masquerading as one of the others in the FC, but clearly this was not the case.

    As an aside, how long do you have to totally oust your enemy before the "friend" s/he's enslaved becomes hateful and afraid? I remember once I showed up and got a slave that was very afraid, but also devoted/accepting (can't remember which, but it was better than it was worse), and I haven't gotten this since.

    1. There is a known bug with that final plot event. The condition to give you control over the rival arcology never triggers.

      The slave you get at that time is the "hostage", and it appears (I'm not familiar with this part of the code so I'm just telling you what I see at a glance - might be wrong) that when you create your starting slaves, the most expensive non-related one you make is used as a template for the hostage later. So that sets the starting devotion/trust level of the hostage. Then, each week that you get a message from the rival showing the hostage, her devotion & trust go down by 5 (usually). Since devoted is 50+ and accepting is 20+, you need a minimum drop of 30, or 6 weeks, to get from minimum devoted to minimum accepting.
