ALPHA 0.5: "Hell Unending"


This is the largest single update yet, and has been difficult to playtest thoroughly. It was both easier from a code perspective and more convenient for me personally to collapse what would have been several daily updates into a single large one. Depending on how this release goes, I may continue this approach. This update adds an intelligence stat to the game. It impacts almost everything in one way or another, so I will not exhaustively list everything it does. Generally, though, higher intelligence makes raising devotion harder, and virtually everything else easier. Education is the only way to raise intelligence. I do not intend education to become a big part of FC, so it's limited to a simple two-state stat: is this slave educated, or uneducated? For the PC's purposes, a month or two spent learning the culture and expectations of the arcology would be plenty to qualify for educated status. Education cannot improve already-high intelligence, so for slaves so blessed, the only purpose of educating is to increase price.

The overall balance effect of intelligence is going to take a lot of playtesting to establish. However, I do hope it will reward close attention while not irritating more relaxed players. It should further distinguish assignments like whoring and public service from milking and glory hole duty, since intelligence only matters for the former. Slaves for skill-based assignments will take more time and effort to perfect but be more valuable for the effort. Furthermore, intelligence reduces the interchangeability of slaves. Education can only improve intelligence one step, and it's currently a five-state stat, so the ideal slaves for leadership positions must start at at least above-average intelligence.

Balancing is tricky. I've been feeling some distant sympathy for David Kim (who's basically in charge of balancing Starcraft) over the feedback on the lactation nerfs. This update directly buffs milk production, though not back to where it was in 0.4.8, and adds another way to indirectly increase it.

If you enjoy FC, you should check out Jack o Nine Tails by OldHuntsman, which I consider the greatest slave management game yet made. It's the only h-game I know of that presents a genuinely satisfying gameplay challenge. When I first played it I enjoyed it so much that I wrote a story set in the JoNT world. It's novella-length, and by virtue of it having no competitors that I know of, I will claim to have written the English-language novelization of JoNT. One of these days I'll bring a project in under 25,000 words. One of these days.

0.5 Changelog

Major additions:
  • Intelligence, a new stat which is arguably the most important in the game because it impacts almost everything and is very difficult to raise. This feature is not really complete: for example, almost all hardcoded slaves remain at the default intelligence value.
  • Education, which is handled as a modifier to intelligence; it is limited to a simple educated or uneducated status.
  • New assignment that directs slaves to take slave classes under the supervision of the personal assistant. These increase devotion, teach basic skills, and increase effective intelligence through education, at a rate determined by the slave's preexisting intelligence and devotion.
  • New facility, the schoolroom, associated with the class assignment. Includes a new leadership position, the schoolteacher.
  • New psychosuppressant drugs that increase obedience, reduce intelligence, suppress sexual and behavioral quirks, and can cause submissiveness.
  • New facility, the arcade, associated with the glory hole assignment. Includes a powerful upgrade that greatly increases income at the cost of rapidly ruining slaves.
  • brothel upgrade which automatically doses all inhabitants with high doses of aphrodisiacs to improve revenue.
  • promenade upgrade which adds a small amount of progress to the recruiter for each slave working on the promenade.
  • servants' quarters upgrade which improves devotion gain and upkeep reduction.
  • dairy upgrade which improves health and breast growth.
  • A collection facility upgrade which improves production.
Minor updates:
  • Complete review of the 0.4.10 code based on a comprehensive proofread by a very dedicated anon (and /k/ommando). More than three hundred minor errors were corrected.*
  • Added pre-enslavement career tracking to some randomly generated slaves; at present these are for flavor only and have no significant stat effects.
  • Buffed basic milk production and bonus from induced lactation, though still not to 0.4.8 levels.
  • Buffed cum production.
  • Submissives now enjoy crawling.
  • Some code refactoring to increase performance, which is still a long way from where it should be.
  • Balance changes to the way beauty is calculated; the overall effect is a blanket reduction of both slave prices and prostitution income.
  • Returned the dildo gag in the form of a restrictive leather collar that includes one; like its previous incarnation it is removable and will not prevent slaves from speaking or performing oral sex, and will confer basic oral skills.
  • Added a rules assistant option to specify a standard of living for obedient and better slaves; fearful and worse slaves will still be set to spare.
  • Several preexisting events now have unusually advantageous options that only appear if the arcology features a busy collection facility.
  • The Slave School, St. Claver Prep, and the Gymnasium-Academy now educate their graduates; the Growth Research Institute and L'Ecole des Enculees do not.
  • All sexual quirks can now be overridden by at least one fetish; the nymphomaniac fetish removes any sexual quirk.
  • All behavioral quirks except quirky can now be overridden by at least one fetish.
  • Being confined, working in a glory hole, or being in the new arcade will all prevent the formation of relationships and rivalries.
  • The devotion bonus for being a head girl or a recruiter increased for intelligent slaves and decreased for stupid ones.
  • The most minimal autosurgery assistant setting will no longer alter lips.
  • New hardcoded slaves.
  • Bugfixes.
* Anon's correction of 9mm Parabellum (a compact, effective and inexpensive pistol cartridge) to .45 ACP (a chubby, slow, and overrated relic) in one scene was not made, because Anon is wrong.

      And I've tried to restrain the /k/, but anon's correction pastebins included a hilarious filibuster about the 9mm scene. Couldn't let that one pass by unremarked. (It's 2015; if it doesn't fit into a comfortable double stack mag, it's not a good automatic pistol cartridge.)

    2. INCONSISTENCY (or progressive thinking?) - playing on regular gender distribution, the "raid on refugees" event's first choice (take on gun-wielding ones) results in formerly male slaves...except one of them somehow managed to have "houseWIFE" as the pre-slavery profession.

      Maybe this background should check for initial gender or genital arrangement? Alternatively, maybe replace "housewife" with a gender-neutral term?

    4. INCONSISTENCY - when the "use birth name instead of imposed name" event triggers for humiliation fetishists, choosing the second option results in a paragraph the last sentence of which says the slave gains the humiliation fetish (despite already having one when the event fires).

    10. BUG - a slave who doesn't enjoy a cum-based diet will generate a "resents being underfed" message in the weekly update. If the slave is a healthy weight, the next sentence will reset diet to normal, which is the way the game reacts to weight loss/gain diets.

      Effectively, if a healthy slave doesn't come to enjoy cum in the first week, the diet resets and the owner will have to manually reassign cum diet.

    11. Actually, it looks like a slave who doesn't want a cum diet will lose weight, so the above may be partially intended?

      Either way, plugging a cum diet into the weight loss mechanics is what's causing the issue. Cum diet stops if the slave rejects it and then either a) does not lose any weight but is at normal weight, or b) loses weight to put the slave in a "stop diet" position (normal weight or rail thin).

      "Through the glass walls of your office, you see (a shemale slave) fucking another slave with her ."

      The last line of the same paragraph mentions "dick in her pussy", but the first line (above) looks like it can't find a reference to the slave's genitalia. (Also, there is no slave name link.)

BUG - Some slaves, such as those that can be gained from the daughter sale event, cannot be trained; the paragraph detailing the changes experienced by that slave seems to indicate that all training objectives chosen for that slave have no effect, and appears identical to the one that would be seen after none of the available training objectives for that slave had been chosen.

    14. Interesting. Just put an anorexic slave on weight loss for some devotion gains. When she went from W+ to normal, weekly update showed her enjoying weight loss but diet did not automatically shut off. When she went from normal to W-, weekly update showed the "her weight is now normal" message and shut off her diet.

      My hunch is that the cum diet issue and this are connected.

    15. BUG? - does the "addict mother/daughter" event have hard-set attributes? I started refreshing it, and every single generated slave appears to be at lowest intelligence possible (as well as lowest facial attractiveness possible, when playing on max shemale content).

    21. BUG - recruitment on shemale start is resulting in herms. This would be fine, but some of said herms come with pierced clits, which you previously said surgical herms shouldn't have.

      My guess is that the game is possibly attaching dicks and balls to otherwise female slaves. They still show up as sterile/barren though, so at least they're not fully functional hermaphrodites.

    1. I started with a custom slave "Green Grape" whom I can't seem to narrow her waist via corseting. She's wearing a corset but I don't see it nor the health debuff in the end of the week report, but she did just drop down in health so maybe she is. Either way she's not working as intended.

  19. I have a lore question, do non-slave arcology residents often travel between arcologies in a free city? Or do arco-owners control resident movement? I assume some are able to travel freely due to prestige bringing more business to one's arco. Maybe I'm mistaken about the whole thing. Anyway, awesome game FC dev. :)

  26. Long time player, first time commenter, I 2nd (or 3rd or...nth, whatever) the author's awesome commitment to this project.

    Suggestion: Filters when buying slaves. While we wouldn't want the "submit custom order" function to go away, maybe have the ability to pre-filter out 1 to n attributes from the purchasing options? Can be adjustable for balance. Maybe as part of the computer core upgrade or as a side upgrade for the PA. Basically she clicks through hundreds of slave-for-sale posts so you don't have to and only shows you the ones you specified.

    For example, I'd probably not want former male slaves until I had a collection facility, so I'd leave the game option initially to "occasionally been born male" but filter out born male slaves. Or, if I was recruiting for a dairy, I'd choose only D-cup or higher sized breast slaves, etc.

    I think I saw a suggestion previously to have "classifications" assignable on purchase that would have different rule assistant set ups to keep track of slaves better (dairy cow, whore, etc). Tough balancing act, too much automation and the game plays itself, too little and it becomes micromanagement hell. Maybe just the ability to assign labels on purchase that are for ease of identification (group all whore label together, sort by devotion), and are easy to change later.

    2. There's an online "slave role generator" out there (first Google result) which has "pregnant" as one of its components. Instead of constantly impregnating the slave, however, the generator indicates a "simulated" pregnancy - a pumpable bladder being installed in the slave's belly, hormonal treatment for milk production, etc.

      May have a few too many fiddly components to implement with a single click in FC, so perhaps instead pregnant slaves should derive a bit of happiness from each pregnancy component - big belly being the obvious big one, lactation getting tacked on, maybe naked/barefoot compounding it?

    A few ideas and suggestions:

    a major overhaul of reputation is needed. Instead of just being Known/Respected/Exalted, our reputation should be influenced by things we specialize in as slave owners. If I have a brothel full of gorgeous nymphos, a dairy full of happy cows, or an arcade lined with mindless holes, I ought to get a reputation based on that. Reputations for specialization might increase revenue, as well as the likelihood for prestige.

    Minor update to the cost summary is needed, as it does not show the impact subordinate servants have on upkeep

    An addition to the remote surgery: "Modify her anus to resemble a vagina" and a further option unlocked after upgrading the surgery: "Surgically alter her rectum to naturally produce lubrication" This should remove or at least nerf the health leak for shemales

    An anal accessory to preserve anal virginity

  33. SUGGESTION - a "personal attention" setting similar to the recruitment system that can increase the chance of a particular weekly event triggering.

    Something like "watch slave feeds" could make events where paying attention to slaves is important more likely - nicknames, weight loss, breeding slave lotion application, etc.

    Something like "watch incoming messages" could apply to the ignorant immigrant event or the "sister pimp wants to sell trap brother" one, and/or make business-related events (market fluctuations, business proposal from bossy but bankrupt mother/daughter, etc) more likely.

    Something like "pay attention to arcology trends/fashion" could boost the "en vogue" events - ones that trigger on special body mods or let you throw extra cash at slaves to chase popularity.

Might not be a bug but if you press the activate rules assistant twice it makes your devoted and worshipful slaves clothes change from naked back to the clothes they were wearing before(I've set them to choose your own outfit). Also, i don't think intelligence should lower the devotion of devoted and worshipful slaves, since they want to obey you don't they? And, the daughter's of liberty scene where they tell you to free a slave shouldn't affect devoted and worshipful slaves i think, since in the scene the slaves says that they want to be free, but if their devoted/worshipful they want to be with you right?

  36. FCA, for those of us that are sadistic, but not that sadistic, can you have it be so that we can sentence inmates to the arcade for specific periods of time (could work with a counter)? Or just choose whether we want them to get out automatically before they die or get mindbroken? Something like that, because currently I'm forced to keep checking all the time, and I suspect mindbreak is partially random, too.

    1. Mindbreak can happen outside facilities as well, and in that case it doesn't always trigger. I believe it is somewhat random - refreshing the weekly update page can flip between "it happened" and "it didn't happen" states.

    2. I suspect it has something to do with either increasing resistance when rebellious or with losing too much obedience/gaining too much resistance at once. It's not something that is completely random, because in my previous game I had 10 or so girls in gloryholes (with pretty collars, fitting clothes, nymphos etc) and they got all the way to devoted on their own, without risk of mindbreak.

      I sorta hoped the arcade would be stable like the other assignments, even if that only happened through some caretaker position and it only got them to fearful or whatever.

      or whatever I have no idea what twine code looks like. Also yeah, it would be bredy great if you could do such a thing. The anon on /d/ had a nice idea, too. Just have it start an event where the girl begs you to get out or whatever for some flavor.

  38. SUGGESTION - can we get a "balanced cocktail" hormone setting that will prevent hormone-based changes from occurring?

    There are multiple things I personally would like to prevent from happening to slaves once they're "perfect" (like clit shrinkage in females, or breast/butt shrinkage in shemales) just because the salve's natural hormonal balance doesn't normally support such things.

      I don't think your first two suggestions are all that likely, though the second may have a chance given that there is a random event choice that involves doing this. For your third, can you elaborate? In what ways would it be different from the current system, but similar to the auto salon? If you mean just in having the clothing options in a separate tab, that is probably feasible. As for additional wardrobe options, I certainly agree; I want to be able to put a ring gag, a blindfold, and then restrictive latex on a slave, then set them to be an oral toy (just imagine the description possibilities). Gags and blindfolds would certainly increase the potential for all sorts of things, especially random events. The last suggestion will likely be the same case as the first two, though less extreme forms may be more acceptable, such as sewing eyes shut rather than removing them, or chemical blinding, which is already in the description of a hardcoded slave ("Box," I believe), though this option still seems to fall under "extreme fetishes." Still, some good suggestions here.

  43. The slaves I keep in the Collection Facility frequently trigger the "caught masturbating" event. Seems like they would get more than enough of that at work.

    The pregnant slave offering herself is always exactly 25 weeks pregnant.

    Can you add the option to change your mind about the computer personality and slaves coming up with nicknames? Ideally not as more events that clutter up the random event list, but rather as an option in the arcology management screen or something.

IMO slaves in the wallbutt arcade should be just a butt in the wall, and not show up on any other menus or in any other scenes or be eligible for any random events until they're taken out of the arcade.

    Girls purchased in special orders don't have past occupations, is this intended?

    Prestigious slaves have past occupations that usually contradict whatever makes them prestigious (though not necessarily with albinos, unless they were abducted into slave schools early enough).

    1. The slave summary and the long description define ages differently. For instance, the summary defines 'late thirties' as 35-39, but the long description defines it as 36-40, causing a slave that's exactly 35 to be described differently depending on where you're looking.

      In FBoobs, getting titfucked can give a slave 'hates anal' instead of the 'hates men' that the text implies. Also, cumsluts are eligible for getting the trait, despite their enthusiasm in their text for the scene.

      You should probably some of the 'white' nicknames to only go to Americans. Bit strange to get a Polish girl nicknamed 'Grits'.

      In 'RE not my name', allowing a slave to resume her birth name doesn't change her name.

      Uneducated slaves with maximum intelligence never progress towards gaining an education.

      I had 'RE rebels' fire when one of the slaves was worshipful.

    This all happened after a slave, the one I got from the lab raid, defected to the Daughters. I beat the daughters and got the slave back. But the recaptured lab slave was then not present in my slave list. Also two more girls are missing from my brothel (it was at 6/10 before the attack).

Alternatively, you can install Twine and import the game file, and if the boxes are arranged differently than in the screenshot accompanying the 5.0 release post, there may have been a problem downloading (I think).

With the current focus on making money to survive the daughters and get a qt 3.15 arcology owner, I find myself wanting to set up a brothel as a moneymaker then sell off those slaves and close it down once I'm established later. That isn't currently possible, and it saddens me. I just want to make money so I can set up my perfect glorious milkracks without losing out on the more expensive mid-game content.

  50. The classroom seems a bit buggy. The slaves in it show up in the weekly report, but it seems to think they are all resting. The screen to add slaves to the classroom could also need a filter to only be able to add slaves that would benefit from the education.

    3. These were slaves that didn't have an education yet. And the classroom seemed to work, just the weekly report didn't indicate that they were in the classroom at all. Once they were finished they left the classroom automatically. They shouldn't show up in the weekly report while in a facility, anyway. Whores in the brothel don't, for example.

    1. This is probably related to having a slave inside a building when said slave's fetish matches the building type. On an earlier playthrough I found breast fetishists and nymphos in my milk stalls had devotions over 100 and rising. It's entirely likely that repeated brothel use is turning your slaves into nymphos, at which point staying in there keeps bumping their devotion up.

      Since devotion normalized back down to 30 once you take the slaves out of the buildings, the dev probably considers it too minor an issue to patch. Still, it does affect things like the casino event where the four most devoted slaves get invited.

  59. Somehow I was able to un-mindbreak a slave. I began with a rich start, on 'easy' and received 'flehslight' a mindbroken slave, to begin with. I had her working gloryhole for a bit, then the summary page mentioned that she didn't know why her devotion was being rewarded with that, so I set her to whoring. A week later she's back to being devoted and no longer mindbroken. I don't know if it had something to do also with her being 'Quite stupid' and so it somehow overrode it?....

    Now, I'm totally for the ability to 'nurse a slave back' from mindbroken. In fact I rather like the idea of being able to do just that. I just thought that if so, there should be a specific line in the summary screen or something that mentions her return from being 'broken'.

    I prefer to play as a pretty benevolent master who only severely punishes a slave when she has angered me greatly or continues to act rebelliously for an extended period. I find the whole 'mindbreak' text to be rather saddening, since it is never my intention to 'break' a slave so completely. I would personally like the ability to use a gloryhole without damaging their mental state, but that's just me...some women (nymphos, cumsluts) could willingly work a gloryhole...

  65. I'd like it if the bonus for having all the variety bonuses in the brothel required one less bonus when playing without many born-male slaves.

    Also, the bonuses from having varied slaves makes for great gameplay and could probably be expanded, both to other places than the brothel and to more bonuses to collect. One possibility is bonuses not from balancing two different categories, but from having slaves that fit more obscure categories. Like the "Barefoot, naked and pregnant" thing. Give an increasing bonus based on the number of different rare combinations you have available.

    All-natural vs heavily modified by surgery could be an idea for another set of opposed categories to balance. And for people that want to make less varied brothels, bonuses for crafting a consistent theme could work.

    Showing what bonuses you are going to get this week on the brothel page would be nice though, if only to catch when a girl has slipped out of "Girlish" status due to natural hormones again.

As of right now, the game automatically puts them back on CCs after birth, which makes the slaves unhappy and requires a manual reset. What's worse is when this happens inside a facility, meaning slaves need to be removed for a reset - if you even notice they've given birth at all.

    2. Your comment got me thinking. Maybe the facilities should add another line to the slaves' jobs list?

      As in, you see the "regular" job list as normal, and it functions as normal. Once you build a facility, the slave list includes a "facility jobs" line, which gives the facility effects and prevents the slave from showing up in the weekly list but doesn't actually remove the slave from the main page? This would let players access slaves who are assigned to facilities and modify them.

      Problem is, facilities were implemented partly because the main page list gets long. So even if each facility slave was properly tagged - say, with a facility title before the slave's name - the main page would still be immense.

    3. You could make a second "facility slaves" page that could be accessed from a link on the main page. Ideally grouped by facility, with the manager on top. Does Twine support anchors so that you can easily jump to the right group from the top?

      It's still an extra click to get there, but better than having to take them out of the buildings and/or visiting each building one by one. Or you could just put the whole thing at the very bottom of the main page. Would it affect loading times? Or both, with an option to not show them on the main page.

I seem to easily beat my rival with poor start and bad world economy, just by buying cheap slave after cheap slave, regardless of stats, and throwing them all into the sex furnace. I put in twenty slaves gradually, and then when the big rivalry began, I did the special aphrodisiac injection upgrade to suddenly increase my income (I didn't do it earlier because I wanted my slaves to stay alive). Then I only needed to occasionally sell a high-valued whore to keep my money up through the whole financial war.

  73. FC, someone on /d/ had an idea and hasn't posed it here, it was suggested as a minor surgery to give a slave sharp, shark teeth in replacement of their current ones. It could increase the intimidation of a body guard or add to a slaves fighting ability. There could also be a random health dip during the weeks from them cutting their lip or tongue on them
