ALPHA 0.4.6


This update adds a series of nonrandom events. Without spoiling too much, serious violence is involved. When I was reviewing the events, I sat back and thought, shit, some of that prose reminds me of what just happened in Paris. I struggled with the idea of shelving this for a while. Eventually I decided not to, for two reasons. First, the parallels aren't really all that strong; urban combat is urban combat and that's already present in other nonrandom events. Second, if I never included violence when there was violence in the news, I would never include it at all, for there is always violence somewhere. Such is our world.

That said, I didn't want anyone getting the impression I hadn't considered the matter. If you aren't in the mood for text descriptions of combat, just select "one-handed mode" from the start menu to turn the events off. And since the recent tragedy has come up, and on the off-chance any Frenchman may be reading this, know that I and many of my countrymen remember that our country owes its independence to your country, and we shall not forget it.

The new prestige types initially listed in the 0.4.5 changlog went missing for some odd Twine-related reason, but are included this time.

Ongoing submission information: If you've got a unique slave you'd like to see in game, don't forget to submit her here using the easy to use in game upload system. If you'd like to see a country added, comment with the 20-50 top female names for that country, formatted like so: "Annisa", "Sarah", "Maria". If said country's population is split between major super-national ethnic groups (Caucasian/Black, for example, rather than Pashtun/Tajik), give me the breakdown.

0.4.6 Changelog:
  • Large branching series of new nonrandom events; there are eight events in total but only 4 or 5 will be seen in any given playthrough due to their branching nature.
  • Mercenaries obtained from events now have very significant maintenance costs. The difficulty of getting the best possible outcome from mercenary-related events has increased greatly.
  • Five new types of prestigious slaves: cheating trophy spouses, politicians, former arcology owners, albinos, and fashion models, all with alternate XY versions; these complement the royalty, athletes, actresses, veteran slaves, and porn stars included in 0.4.3.
  • Bodyguards' weapons will be described differently depending on their height and musculature; there is no practical effect as yet.
  • The rules assistant can now apply smart piercings.
  • Buffed the money the PC makes when not personally supervising a slave.
  • New nationalities: Moroccan, Romanian, Swedish, Lithuanian, Bolivian, Haitian, and Cuban.
  • More hardcoded slaves.
  • Bugfixes.

  2. For the first mercenary hire opportunity, installing a full platoon says it will "incur minor significant upkeep costs." Also, there's no option to 'continue', so I can't return to the main screen.

    Scrolling through the cheapest slaves, I see this error pop up:

    Error: <>: bad evaluation: State.variables.haitianSlaveNames is undefined

    In the descriptive text that followed:

    blank is available to inspect. She seems reasonably healthy.

    And so on, so forth.

    So, I guess there's a naming issue, at least for Haitian slaves? . . . and now, having typed all that, I see someone else has mentioned pretty much the same error. Well, too bad, I'm not deleting all this.

    2. Rather than removing her entirely, is it possible for there to be a code "tag," so to speak, that would make her unable to be selected as a starting slave? I don't mind either way, but there is an anon out there that wanted it. :P

  6. I have an idea regarding slave renaming. Now that nationalities are a thing, if we give the slave a new name that is an exact match to one from the list for said slave's nationality, perhaps there could be a slight benefit?

    1. I would like it if you could get the option to rename rebellious-to-fearful slaves, leading to obedience loss (a decent amount) EXCEPT if it restored their original name, in which case they'd get a tiny boost (not enough to be worth farming, just for flavour).

      In turn, the player would get good feels.

  8. I have a couple of suggestions, i.e. a huge list of suggestions, but I’m cutting it down in case I’m dramatically overestimating my idea goodness:

    First, unless you’re planning on expanding its descriptions, the “select own outfit” clothing option should probably auto-select from the other existing outfits (preferably based on the slave’s kinks, breast size, job, rebelliousness etc rather than just a random number). It’d be a good way to show off the various implemented outfits without having to micromanage every single slave. It’d also give them a little more individuality and character.

    Second, it should be possible to keep slaves at low but stable obedience values without having to repeatedly grant and revoke privileges. I very rarely have anything but Wor/Dev or Reb/E.Reb slaves, and it’s a waste of the additional variation you could get from having reluctant/fearful slaves. Adding a floor and upward decay (towards reluctant/fearful), as exists for the high obedience values, would hopefully have a big impact on pushing slaves towards the centre. Besides, a slave who’s been with you for a year isn’t going to be filled with the same righteous fury as on day 1, so It’s a bit less silly that way.

    Incidentally, would you be interested in people submitting snippets and scenes (like for clothing descriptions), or are you planning on doing it all personally?

  10. Now with even more nationalities I would strongly suggest more ethnic customization options. I've read that you intend to give custom slaves some love, but with so many nationalities even schools and market should get a rudimentary "filter" option (after all it's not like you couldn't "screen" slaves at first glance by their skin color only).

    Right now I'm doing an Asia run and figured I'll focus on Japanese slaves mostly. This basically means I either choose continental slaves and permanently give up on white and black slaves (which I indeed don't want too much, but one or two couldn't hurt) OR I'm in lot's of "F5's".

    Maybe I'm alone in this, but I usually just want the major nationalities and a few niche ones. With no offense meant, I couldn't care less about Armenia or Bolivia slaves and it personally does nothing for me (except extending my "F5" time); I'm positive many people feel similiar about other nationalities THEY don't/do care about. Maybe at least a "temporary" continental filter when buying slaves?

    tl;dr Nationalities are fun, but they are becoming a chore with each addition without some kind of filter.

    Another suggestion, or even a plea is to perhaps update the encyclopedia regarding the details of what EXACTLY (and to what extent) aphrodisiacs, hormones for either sex, steroids; and their relevant dosage does. Right now the player has almost no info (beside the summary screen and "it should work like that" of course) about the drugs he's pumping into his slaves. One would think these should come with an information leaflet. I'm not saying give the player an exact percentage of everything, but a semi-specific descriptions (i.e. it has minor chance to do this and that) would be nice.
    Speaking of, in 0.4.5/clean save the increase in face beauty effect still procced ONLY for me when in addict state and OFF aphrodisiacs. I'm not an extensive tester but it seems the case when playing relatively casually. That said, since we have have so many drugs now, maybe make this rare(ish) effect a combination of aphrodisiacs AND hormones at once (extreme dosage of both would increase the chances substantially)? Or make it a "static" effect; for example it always procs after four weeks of uninterrupted extreme dosage treatment. Right now there's not much point in using extreme aphrodisiacs (and even then the "fallout" is easily cleaned).
    I'm sure that male hormones+steroids could yield some fun combinations as well (beside growing into a muscled hulk). Please don't crucify me if I'm wrong on this and it's just my stupidity/rng fucks with me.

    Finally, I'll second the request to do, well, something, with the hardcoded slaves at start. Frankly, some are so /d/ that I don't think it was an accident they were left behind. Jokes aside the RNG is sometimes so strange with these... I think the option to buy them when one feels the need is fine as it is. On the other hand, I usually sell them in the first month and forget about it, so here's that.

    1. I agree that nationalities is making it extremely difficult to buy/create specific slaves you may have in mind. The filter you propose sounds like a good suggestion, perhaps this could take the form of being able to browse other regional markets i.e., your arcology may be located in Australia but you can browse/purchase from the South American public market for a greater variety of Latina slaves? Maybe at an additional cost for shipping & handling?

  11. the only thing i have a complaint about is that the rules assistant doesn't have the option for adding a smart clit ring but other than that a very enjoyable game. although i do have a few suggestions/ideas that might make for more diverse gameplay. first, since you can surgically alter your slaves, why not yourself? or even choose your own starting parameters at the beginning such as race, height, eye/hair color, penis length. another thing i thought might be of interest is the ability to upgrade cosmetic surgery to perform gene splicing, like growing multiple breasts, forcing them to become herms, different color eyes, etc. maybe even go so far as to gene splice with animals, give a slave udders, prehensile tail/tongue, cat ears for those who enjoy anthros, maybe open a zoo with the more exotic anthros as the attractions. the only thing that kind of bothered me is that if technology allows for drones and power suits why not robotic limbs for amputees or have a series of events where you have to contend with a blossoming sexbot industry. of course since i have no idea what is entailed with coding a game such as this and the game itself is free, these are all purely things i thought might make for more dynamic game play and expand the future potential of the game rather than being limited to just slave/BDSM fantasies.

  15. The week after freeing $traitor.slaveName, you recieve another message from the Daughters of Liberty. This one contains a video. It shows $traitor.slaveName sitting quietly at a table, wearing comfortable clothes and eating a nice meal.

    Didn't free anyone (and the event happened about 5-10 weeks ago).

    ($slaveCost+Math.trunc($slaveCost*$activeSlave.prestige*1) is the "1" supposed to be something else?

    There is an inconsistency between this page and "Sell Slave", on this page there is a price reduction if the slave is sterile "preg < -1", while on "Sell Slave" it instead has the descriptive line "Her pregnancy greatly reduces her value." "preg > 3". Having both reductions would make sense, though for sterile only the permanent ovary removal should reduce the price. The other sterile surgery is easily reversed.

    Some way to 'preview' upload code for those of us not savvy enough to drop it into the game (which is an awesome game by the way)

    Also some bugs/questions (may be outdated or already reported, sorry if so!)
    All the mother/daughter drug addict slaves seem to start out unnatractive =/
    All the mother/daughter businesswoman slaves seem to be sterile. Which is extremely disappointing (on a side note, how's the breeding farm coming?)
    All the female custom order slaves seem to be sterile T_T

    2. I don't know either, it seems like it [i]could[/i] be easy, just make a page with a dropdown menu of options, but I have no grasp of how hard programming this game is so... either way it couldn't hurt to ask.

      Oh! Suggestion before I forget yet again:Could we have a 'target' weight instead of the current lose/gain? Because the current way it works where, it they're a healthy weight, you have to remember to click lose/gain every week until it gets a 'hit' is kind of annoying. And the way it continues after that is prone to being missed if you have more than a couple slaves not tucked away in their special boxes (for me at least)

    3. Install Twine 2, click the thing to find a file, select this one, and when it loads, open it. Find the box for random XX or XY slave generation. It is a b*tch just to write that, I would imagine, and the menus are even more complex. Could it be done? Maybe, but it would take a while, I think.

  19. Got an issue with the Daughters of Liberty events. I got the first event about freeing a slave. I kept her. Then I get this one, relating to something that never happened wand with variables instead of names. Is my game broken?

    2. Subs boost "maid" job effectiveness (subordinate servant, the one that reduces upkeep) - or should, according to the weekly update. "Sub + Arrogant" used to be a combo indicating the slave is only pretending to be arrogant, but that went out the window with the quirk overhaul as far as I can tell.

    4. Haven't had time for a run at this version yet. Previously, the -Anal +Butt interaction resulted in the slave losing -Anal the next week. Sub + Arrogant keeps both, but (before the overhaul) there was a line on the slave's page about how "her arrogance is only a thin shell hiding her desire to submit".

      There was a similar line for Bitchy Exhibitionists/Humiliation fetishists, but neither appears any more (as of 4.5 at least). Exhibitionists should still get a happiness boost from being naked. Don't remember if they boost any particular job effectiveness. Promenade/serve public maybe?

    6. Low-obedience slaves will sometimes acquire negative traits from a) wearing shock collars, or b) being "used" sexually (whoring, public service, gloryhole). But again, unless the two specific lines of text I referenced above made it back into the game in 4.6, you won't see them.

    - Slaves permanently sterilized (oopherectomy?) don't note that they're sterilized in the long form info, and their upkeep cost doesn't change (you're 'stuck' paying the equivalent of contraceptives)

    - Once you put a slave on hormone treatments of any kind, there's no way to stop them

  29. Quick bug in the new version, 0.4.6

    Fresh save, wealthy start. A natural XX slave with large breasts was building muscle to support them. Without steroids or any hormones, two turns of workout alone caused 'her balls to drop.' Checking in the auto surgery gave the option to geld the odd woman with balls and no penis.

    I know heavy male hormones can cause hermaphroditic changes in the new version, tested them on an XX potential bodyguard. However, a simple workout routine that didn't even bring the slave up to Ripped Muscles status probably shouldn't cause her to grow a pair of balls. If I'm wrong and this is an intended possibility, ignore this.

    Further, the message 'Her balls have dropped' seems incorrect, as the new balls are described in her bio as being so small they've retreated up into the abdomen. Honestly this part was something that amused me. Very minor.

  32. Just a mild consistency issue. A slave in a body suit still has a pronounced camel toe even while wearing a chasity belt.

    I also had a weird bug where I allowed two slaves to get married. One said that they were slave wives, but the other still said that they were lovers. Then come the next week they asked to get married again. After the second time both were married.

  39. Since there is now a nonrandom event to massively upgrade your mercenaries, could there be a new facility that will have slaves "service" the mercenaries, slightly reducing the increased upkeep? Maybe a random event to give/sell a slave to one of them for similar effect.
