ALPHA 0.5.6: "Das Kapital"


This update is a major step towards 1.0. It adds two more facilities, completing or nearly completing the final complement of them. It also significantly expands player involvement in the player character's business pursuits, though like most of the other non-erotic content, this can easily be ignored. As such, this update is heavy on structure and light on content. The new features are in a relatively spare state for now and will require several event-heavy updates before they're fully realized.

Through recent playthroughs, I felt the player character was fading out too much. So, he can now start a slave trade focused corporation, complete with IPO, share price fluctuations, price shocks, dividends, et cetera. This is going to be a rich source of random events; things like the ability to name and customize your corporation are definitely planned. Before the business majors in the audience jump down my throat, please understand that this is a very broad-strokes rendition of corporate affairs. It bears about as much similarity to being a CEO as Call of Duty bears to being a soldier, or Madden bears to being Tom Brady; that is to say, very little. That said, if there's anything business experts feel I can do to push up the verisimilitude within the context of what's here, let me know.

I have recoded the way the game decides which slaves to display where. Bugs like slaves inappropriately appearing on the main menu when they should be in a facility are likely. As usual, thank you all for your playtesting and feedback.

Major additions:
  • The Master Suite, a facility associated with the fucktoy assignment. Its leadership position is the prized Concubine, and it features an upgrade that will pamper its inhabitants.
  • The Cellblock, a facility associated with the confinement assignment. Its leadership position is the sexually aggressive Wardeness.
  • Corporate management, available from the economics report every turn after it is unlocked by a basic level of reputation and cash on hand greater than ¤30k.
  • Significant recoding for better performance.
Minor updates:
  • Reduced income from liquid assets to encourage incorporation.
  • Added a Rules Assistant diet setting that fixes unattractive weights rather than forcing a single weight outcome.
  • New hardcoded slaves.
  • Heavily rebalanced slave pricing.
  • Bugfixes.

  4. Pre-defined slave 'Virago' Kissa (line 8470) is missing customLabel, causing $activeslave.customLabel to appear on screen if added to the player's list of slaves.

  5. I know very little about html. Would it be possible to utilize the escape key to "go back" out of menus and whatnot, but not start the next week like the enter key? Do browsers have a special reservation on that key?

  6. Would it be possible to add some sort of flag to custom tattoos to specify full-body ones so they will appear on the status screen as "heavily tattooed"? Also, I posted this on the last version but it was very late and I don't know if it got seen: Since the values for body part sizes are integers, would it be possible to allow the player to provide their own values for the Rules Assistant growth hormone settings? If not, could you allow an option for those settings to go up to the Asset Expansionism threshold, since the Stacked setting only goes halfway there but the Unlimited setting goes far beyond it?

  8. Just thought of something - what do you think of the idea of being able to order a fully-functional herm slave - like the one from the lab - to impregnate *herself*? Mind you, I have no idea at all how this would turn out genetically, I just think the concept is hot!

    Speaking of herms, you might want to change the order in which their genitalia is described - since many clothing options make mention of their penis, and then the very next sentence is the vagina description (e.g. schoolgirl outfit: "Her dickhead is visible, swinging below the hem of her skirt. It's tight and appealing, with minimal pink pussylips")

    1. As of now, the lab herms can self-impregnate, and the projected child matches the parent exactly. Based on my non-biologist genetics knowledge, a self-impregnated child wouldn't *necessarily* turn out any worse than any "normal" child of incest, but the chances of being genetically identical to the parent are infinitesimally small.

    Second, I've noticed the game now generates slaves whose curtains don't match the drapes. Is the mismatch between head and pubic hair color intentional, to indicate slaves who have had their hair dyed to fetch a better market price?

    1. I'd like to express my disapproval of the spa facility.

      Generally, the only slaves I set to rest are ones whose assets are being expanded via drugs - the ones who are going to be taking a health hit every week. The spa doesn't allow slaves in it to receive drugs, which effectively doubles the time for asset growth (because a week of rest and a week on drugs can no longer be combined).

      Please consider allowing slaves to maintain their drug regimen while inside the spa.

    2. I think the spa should go back to the generic upgrade it started as to allow interactions such as growth hormones and surgeries. Have the Attendant be set in the same manner as the Head Girl, Bodyguard, and Recruiter.

    4. I can recode the spa to allow drugs, and I'll look into a way to permit surgery, etc. on slaves in facilities without slowing things down too badly. However, most facilities will not permit drugs, since the balance assumes that curatives/preventatives are being applied as necessary in facilities like the Brothel.

    5. Yeah the spa is something I never use at all it's just too much work for something that doesn't really do that much for me. Same with the classroom. Especially since I'm normally also trying to change peoples figures at the same time as I hit those other goals as well. Spa seems even less valuable later on when you upgrade your curatives.

  11. Got random event "obedient addict" just now. It starts with "...takes her aphrodisiacs in pill form, with her food." Which is odd, because while the slave in question IS an addict, she is not taking aphrodisiacs this week (she's on curatives instead).

  12. BUG: When the Rules Assistant has diet set to "fix fat and skinny slaves" it won't properly detect when slaves are at a healthy weight to activate "Muscles for slaves at a healthy weight".

    1. Also, would like to request "minimum" settings for various things in Rules Assistant. For example, minimum muscle setting, so that slaves not already at a certain level would be assigned to work out, while slaves already at or beyond that level would not be trying to slim down. Also for minimum hair length in cosmetic options. I don't particularly like bald slaves, but I don't want to lose some of the unique hairstyles by setting cosmetic options to "all short" or "all long" or something. Just a setting like "anything but bald" would be nice.

    If you have your bodyguard set to fight in the bits, and she dies in a the gladiatorial event where she fights a girl from another city, the game removes her from the pit but will not allow anyone else to be assigned, and assumes she's still there at the turn end pit fight description.

    2. It should, but i didn`t mean those raids to be mandatory, you just decide to do em when you think you are ready. On the other hand you should be subject to those kind of things even without personaly ordering Slaveraids, the Events i`ve seen in the current Build so far, your whole Arcology is some kind of "SlaveUtopia", the Powerful Inhabitants of your Arcology would mostly support you - they make profit of it, simple & decadent life. The weak and poor might hate you but the question is are the SocialElites and You able to dominate the poor and weak into beeing content with drink and food and perhaps a little bit healthcare barley enough to prevent plagues.

  16. Quick question; A lot of female slaves seem to lack some details, like ethnicity. Is this because a lot of their files predate the feature, and/or other features? Will we see an update to older incomplete profiles?

    1. If you're talking about hardcoded slaves, that's because the authors of those slaves didn't specify an ethnicity, so none is displayed. Authors can of course update their creations by posting in the upload a slave thread.

  18. Your previous updates about modding and your request to not include underage content got me thinking about how to include the 0-17 year old age group without their involvement in any explicit content.

    My first though was giving the player the ability to open their own slave orphanage once they have attained a high reputation (or an alternate start). This however would take the focus of the game away from its core content and so I did not suggest it.

    Now that you have added the option to run a slave trading business I felt the orphanage idea would be a better fit. I will refrain from suggesting how a player run orphanage would work and make an income in the short term as I do not know if you are even willing to have underage slaves in the game at all. Close proximity to sexual content and all that.

    1. Nice, i had similar thoughts. But in my Book those orphanges/schools wouldn`t produce any income at all, you would expend money your benefit could be:

      - less poverty in your streets
      - a tiny bit more "Public Order", i mean they are kids after all, maybe even parentless at that.
      - a bit of gratitude, from everyone - even from your slaves.

      Thoughts on events:
      - orphaned refugees could try to seek shelter

      Lolicon is not my cup of Tea, but i think at some point of the game this content could be implemented. Just to expand this nice dark atmosphere, if for nothing more.

  19. Will you be adding some details or pointers on how to run your corporation into the codex? Right now I'm just sort of messing around with no real idea of what I'm doing. I just buy low, sell high, and occasionally issue/buy more shares whenever stock prices get high. Buying up on slave training and pharmaceuticals/surgery equipment seems to improve something, but I have no idea what. For that matter, I don't know what any of the various things like general equipment/legal slave acquisition/slave raids do in their own right, if they do anything at all.

    1. Seconding this. I had already some kind of an idea about what I should do in game (not saying I always did that, lol). Now I have no proper conception what the heck is actually going on - and half of the time I keep wondering the market, I am forgetting what I am trying to do with my adorable slaves. Short attention-span here, I reckon. :)
      Also some doubts about the ROI being a bit low, perhaps - but this is just total speculation as I might be working under quite wrong impressions.

    3. My goal with the corporation thus far is to make it say that it has more than enough meds and trainers for their slaves so I just look for and buy those when they are cheap. I have no idea at all what the general assets are. I'm running on the basic assumption they are necessities of life for the slaves; food, clothes, ect.

  20. Thoughts on Crime and Punishment in view of the neo Rome Future Society. Its your Arcology so i think you start pass bills, "make laws". I don`t think every maggot that does something wrong ist worthy of being my slave. So build Prison sentence em, let em work their asses of in the waste if they are lucky they live too tell tale if not... what do i care.

    I see many requests for fetishes i want one too... Maids with guns your own "Urban Cohorts" roit police. So this fetish service a purpose.

    You can lose Future Society points and then become unable to get a new model if the future society model becomes negative. This is most noticeable with Slave Pastor ism if you don't have everyone milking.

  23. I've noticed that the price of slaves on the economy screen for corporation purposes and the price of slaves on the main menu screen for buying purposes don't match, i.e. one is average while one is high. Shouldn't they be the same?

  24. I know you've said you add clothing options in batches, but just to get these maybe on the list for future inclusion:

    - Togas
    - Gladiator Armor (what can I say, I'm into all the Roman stuff added recently)
    - Bunnygirl outfits (Playboy style, one-piece, fishnets, headband yada yada)
    - Ponygirl harness/bridle/boots

    I'm not entirely sure how it would fit into the game, mechanically/economically, but I think owning/running a 'ponygirl taxi' type of service with slaves would be pretty cool. I realized that I've always imagined arcologies as basically just huge pyramid-shaped skyscrapers, with no open spaces inside and just miles of corridors and elevators, but there's no real reason they can't be more like enclosed cities with streets and green space and all. Ponygirl-drawn carriages (or chariots for the Roman flavor) would be cheap, non-polluting travel mechanisms with the added bonus of being decadent and displaying the owner's wealth/power.

  25. In keeping with the recent theme of new "I'm rich, I do whatever the fuck I want" options, what do you think of having the ability to take a single slave as your wife? This would of course come with a huge renown hit, and require extremely high renown to begin with (the populace wouldn't even begin to entertain the thought otherwise). The chosen slave, on the other hand, would gain a ton of prestige.

    Could make it so that the chosen slave is permanently locked into Head Girl position, or allow her to still be used normally - that's up to you, I can't decide which would "fit" better

  26. Suggestion: randomized pit fights

    That is, assign any number of slaves to the pit fight, and the game will pick 2 at random from the list each week. This makes the event more varied without needing to be micromanaged.

  29. Long time lurker, first time poster. I figure that a lot of these suggestions have been made at some point, but I'd just like to include my support for them.

    - Some way to control contraceptive use in the different facilities, particularly now that the Master Suite is a thing (I haven't downloaded the newest version, but I assume that there's currently not an option to not use contraceptives in the Master Suite since it's not mentioned in the changelog).

    - Option for uniforms in the facilities, either as a Rules Assistant setting or as a setting in the facility's management page (the latter would probably be easier to code). Essentially have it so you set an outfit, and anyone assigned to that role automatically has their outfit changed to match.

    - A future society option concerning age. Basically be able to determine whether the future society will place more value in youth or maturity, with a variety of bonuses. For example, if you choose to emphasize youth, you could get small approval bonuses for stuff like giving age lifts to older slaves or having slaves wear youth-oriented clothing like the schoolgirl outfit, while emphasizing maturity might increase the value of older slaves or give a small approval bonus for adult-oriented clothing like the business suits.

  30. When I try to sell a slave with the "let her get pregnant" option, it says "Her barrenness reduces her value", which obviously doesn't make sense.

    From a small n=10 sample, the average and median offered price for a slave set to fertile seems lower than the average and median offered price for the same slave on contraceptives, which also goes against what the message conveys (although it is indeed on the setting that seemed to reduce the slave's value)

    - "Personal Guard Squad" after you`ve made a name for yourself as Warlord or MercenaryCommander and built a
    reputiation of someone able to protect his assets "SupremeWarriors", with own special WarEquipment could
    start following you.

    - they would accompany you on the battlefield
    - protect big events at the Arcology
    - found families at your Arcology similar to the "High Families in Rome"
    - impede enemy agent activitys at your Arcology
    - and finaly if enough trust was built give one of their Daughters to you for marriage

    This Guard could be crucial later when you are out in the Wasteland depending on its size some bad events could be prevented. I think no more as 3 or 4 of this "Families" should be willing to follow you.

    I know i am pushy with all those "content ideas" but they are no demands, just a source of inspiration and if some of em get used in whichever form, i am happy.

  32. At any point does a slave become perfectly fine with killing another in the pit? Like if one slave kills like 20 other slaves in the pit, will she become full of bloodlust? If not, I think it'd be cool to have slaves eventually become so habituated to the pit that they enjoy the bloodsport. Also It'd be nice for a notice to pop up if a slave looses a lethal bout and you can give the thumbs up or thumbs down to have her killed or spare her, this way I can feel comfortable about having competive fights without worrying about my best fighter being killed. Of course a prestige penalty for letting too many loosing slaves live would be needed.

    In the household liquidator, for siblings, the older is shown and "the younger" hidden.

    In "Siblings Workaround" where the younger is created we have
    set $secondSlave.age -= random (-1, -5)
    Which makes the younger sibling older by 1 to 5 years.
    Should be either += or probably (1, 5) because it uses 2 less characters.

    It's impossible for female slaves to maintain natural A cup breasts without hormone tinkering.
    I don't think a 30 year old Asian woman is suddenly going to undergo a second puberty.

    Kind of a side effect of the current system having only -2,-1,0,1,2 for both genders.
    Honestly the whole thing should probably be expanded upon.

    Perhaps a baseline secondary value for breasts, butts, cock, balls, labia, created alongside those values that determines how likely growth events are to succeed and sets a soft minimum value for those body parts to grow (but not shrink) to under normal hormonal conditions... probably sounds more complex than it is.

    I'd say just expand the range of hormones but that doesn't cover slaves with naturally flat chests and large butts or the reverse.

  38. BUG: It is possible for your corporate assets to go into the negative values. If you sell a lot when the price is high, when the price drops it'll go into the negatives and as far as I can tell it's impossible to get them back into the positives.

    2. Had a similar experience with pharmaceutical assets being in deep negatives. After many weeks of telling corp to buy pharma assets, I finally said "sell some slaves" and the pharmaceuticals were suddenly in positives again.

      I think some of the categories are playing off each other, which makes it possible for a category to dip into negatives if the one it's linked to is very large.

  40. Possible BUG: My Head Girl seems unable to max out the whoring and entertainment skills of another slave. I've done this once with the debug head girl Miss Anne and once with the prestigious whore slave you can get.

    I've gone up to week 360 with at least 260 of those weeks with said slave I've been trying to train. Sex skills are easy to max out but once I get the slave to hardened whore she won't go beyond that. Now I am aware I can get that easier by simply placing the girl in the brothel or the promenade but I used to be able to simply have the head girl do it.

    Said slave was special ordered. Brilliant and educated, 40+ yrs old. I intended to replace Miss Anne with her. I've done this to fill in the head positions at each facilities with precisely the women I want for the jobs but I now seem to be unable to as of a couple updates ago. If this is working as intended, let me know. If not, perhaps you could look into it when you have time.

    1. To get beyond Hardened Whore, you have to have them actually whore themselves out. If you read the notice after she hits hardened, it will tell you that the skill cannot be increased anymore through training, she'll need to go out an actually whore herself to raise it further.

The Head Girl can teach the girls all that she knows, and I still get the message "Your head girl 'Mrs.' Lindy Anne notices that Emma isn't as skilled at the fine art of sex for money as she is. 'Mrs.' Lindy Anne does her best but Emma doesn't learn much from her this week. 'Mrs.' Lindy Anne's age and experience are an advantage in teaching hooker skills. " (Note I gave Miss Anne her old name back and gave her the Mrs. nickname)

    3. It's a bug. There are some greater thans instead of less thans in the script for head girl training whoring and entertainment skills. It means that the older the head girl is, and the smarter both slaves are, the less likely the training is to succeed.

I wouldn't be too worried about the business details, the whole point of a business degree is to function as a pay wall as literally anyone who applied for a position in corporate management would be qualified, baring a history of major incompetence of course, its not like getting an education in another field or an apprenticeship in a skilled trade.   47. Thanks for adding in the Zimabwean nicknames!

    Only one gripe: The nickname "Rhodie" was usually reserved for white Zimbabweans which aren't in the game.
    One idea would be to move "Rhodie" to the South African name list, since most of the white Zimbabweans who were evicted after Mugabe seized power fled to South Africa. (Clem Tholet, John Edmond, and Ian Smith to name a few.)

    1. To be fair the people nicknaming your slaves are your other slaves. So unless you are really into making sure your girls are all from Zimbabwea they quite probably don't know that. The nick names aren't really meant to be nice.

    2. Got this bug as well. Looks like every pair of "lovers" has their pages point to themselves when asked for the name of their lover.

      Slave upload doesn't help in this case, because the relationship status and target get zeroed out for uploads.

  49. A humble wish on my part. It would be great if those slaves in LeadershipPosition would at least try to break bad habits of their Subordinates. In particular the Wardness should, i think, break every quirk before releasing inmates.

    1. 0.5.7 will take a step towards this, though not all the way. The Wardeness will not break quirks, I think, from a balance and lore standpoint. She's powerful enough as is, and I think of her ministrations less as training than pure breaking. Slaves come out of the cellblock willing to obey, but not much altered at heart.

  51. DISPLAY ISSUE? - I set to slaves to be each other's sex toys to facilitate a relationship, as I've done in the past, but this pair somehow managed to become THEIR OWN lovers. As in, one slave's page says "This slave's name is X. She is X's lover." while the other says "This slave's name is Y. She is Y's lover."

    So I decided to test things out by dropping the pair's relationship level. I set them to different jobs and restricted their relationship status, and by next week the two were at "best friends" - not with themselves any more, but with each other.

    Thinking everything was fine now, I made them be sex slaves to each other again, which raised their relationship back to "lovers"...and made their pages display the same narcissistic message again.

    I'm guessing the problem is just a display issue at the "lovers" level.

  52. BUG

    I've noticed that Personal Attention doesn't always appear when it should in the weekly summary. Sometimes, it's missing for slaves who have been taught all "orifice" skills and a single "occupational" one. What ends up happening is that you can teach whoring or entertainment to a slave, but the other won't trigger and training won't cease because the "cease training" requires the "learned the last thing she can" to appear first. I've also seen this happen for a female with S++ (specifically the refugee raid nurse), who should have had an extra skill for the master to teach but didn't allow the training to appear in the weekly update.

    Similarly, I've had occasional issues with slave quirks. PA would be set to remove quirk, but weekly update would not even show an attempt taking place. As a result, PA would never "finish" the current task. I usually don't set HG to remove quirks, which was how I noticed this in the first place; changing this setting let HG remove the quirk as normal. This may have happened last version (0.5.5) but I forgot to report it.

    Assuming both of these issues have the same cause, it most likely lies in the interaction between Personal Attention and the weekly summary.

    Bug (potential): Mother/daughter slave pair acquired in a run-though in this version both had the same normal name. Made it harder to distinguish between them until one of them gained a nickname.

    Feature Request: Ability to assign a custom (non-natural) pubic hair color, and the option to slave pubic hair color to facial hair color in the auto salon.

    Feature Request: Natural hair color information is preserved either on the Customize Description screen (such in the same way a natural birth name is preserved there, ie: "birth name was Rachel" by the field), or somewhere on the auto salon page.

    Feature Request: Ability access a slave's character sheet when they are utilizing a facility, without having to remove them from that facility, and then place them back in there.

    Feature Request: Clarified "mixed race" results. For example, a mixed race character description sheet could return a line stating that they are 'Caucasian/African', or 'Asian/Middle Eastern'. Results may affect their utility depending on the arcology's racial supremacy engineering, and natural ethnicity preferences.

    Feature Request: Ability to change the style of the slave marriage ceremony from the "loosely Western based" theme to other ones (either non-fictional/non-Western or fictional).

    Feature Request: Following from the above request regarding mixed race slaves, general expansion of ethnicity alterations through plastic surgery. For example, the ability choose between natural/"passing" looks or exaggerated/"cartoonish" looking ethnicity alterations. In pro-transformative arcologies, cartoonish looks may be desirable. Additionally, the ability to make a slave appear some combination of mixed-race. One potential mechanic could involve natural/passing-grade procedures to take one of the two allowable facial surgery slots and be treated as a single facial alteration; if such a rule is implemented, and both facial slots are already used, only exaggerated features may be achieved.

  61. I think i found a bug, not yet mentioned, i sent a slave to the Dairy to be Milkmaid. She was, at that time, building muscles and well built. Now after at least 20+ weeks she`s still well built and building muscles, i don`t think this is intended.

    Thoughts on the "Pit"
    - Slaves in physical demanding jobs BodyGuard, Milkmaid and so on, could from time to time Workout at this
    location to keep themself in shape
    - Same goes for the Spa but only for Slaves who are allowed to us it, thus cutting down on curatives costs

    - An option for the Assistant to set all Slaves with "perfect health" on "Prevention Drugs" would be
    appreciated.

    1. I believe muscle building only happens in the weekly update, so sending a slave into a facility head position effectively freezes their development (because slaves SERVING in a facility get facility effects, but head slave does not).

    2. This is a known code limitation for the moment. Facility leaders are frozen in many ways while they're on the job. Now that I've finished the planned complement of facilities, they're going to get some attention. First up is making slaves accessible without taking them out.

  66. Some thoughts yet again

    - First for the Schoolroom: The "Teacher" if present could help out as some kind of "Counselor" to smooth out
    interpersonal conflicts. 20 Bitches at each others throats could surely effect the living conditions for
    everyone.
    - Implement some kind of "TimeTable" example: For obedient Slave 5h sleep, 2h freetime, 17h work
    - let`s say she had a rough day -> so she goe`s to Spa in her "FreeTime"
    - quarrel with other slaves -> Counselor and so on...
    - to bad your BodyGuard gets shit out of it, an option for yourself to use spa *cough* so your BG can get a
    chance to relax.

    So the facilities get used without wasting a whole week, but the effect is less. Maybe easier to say every slave has one day the week to do what ever she needs.
