ALPHA v. 0.3.03.1


This update doesn't get its version number bumped because it continues the UI focus of 0.3.03 to the exclusion of almost all else. 

The slave summaries on the main menu have been a continual source of grief. The basic problem is that as much information as possible should be presented in as small a space as possible. This update is a nearly complete overhaul of the system. It is now possible to customize the summaries, with each category of information now available to be hidden, displayed as before, or heavily abbreviated. With the space thus made available, many niche stats not previously available in the summary have been added. After repeated requests the surgery, studio, and salon now return to the slave menu, not the main menu.

I have gotten several offers of help, here and on /d/. I've struggled with how to handle these generous offers without losing creative control or disappointing those with strong interest in the game. When reviewing the list of major tasks today, one possibility stood out. As many playtesters have noted, the hardcoded slaves created on /d/ are now in dire need of a review. This is a lengthy task that I will not have time for until much later in development. It generally involves looking at pictures and deciding whether the asses in them merit a 3 or a 4.

If anyone would be willing to assist by reviewing the hardcoded slaves' stats, let me know in the comments. If I get enough interest I'll come up with a basic mechanism for review. If not, that's fine too; I'll do a grand review when 1.0 nears.

  2. Are the slaves based on actual pics? If so, I'd be interested in seeing them if there's a download somewhere. Probably only out of curiosity to how they appear in game. But, maybe I could correlate them if that's easy to do. Mostly, I'd just like to see what kind of pics were submitted.

  4. I think, at the end of the day, the starting slaves really should get at least one final proofread after any 'help' with revising them. Not only should they be 'balanced', but they should also be diverse - for example, there are a LOT of 18-19 year old starting slaves, not so many in the 30s and 40s.

    - Body Mod Studio entry for perinuem piercings on shemales mentions pussy instead of asshole. Long form description is correct though.

    - Random thought: Should RE Escapee not choose slaves who have had their Achilles tendons snipped and are not wearing heels? The description of the surgery makes it sound like they almost literally canot get around without heels other than by crawling, which would make escape attempts kind of a no-go... ?

    1. ^ This. I haven't gotten a single male criminal or tenant who had gone into debt. I got events like that in a previous version (either 0.3.0.1 or 0.3.0.2.). Either the male version of these random events was removed or is somehow blocked in v.0.3.0.3+.

    2. This is a bug. These events should only be thrown out on XX-only setting, but are being thrown out on both XX-only and default settings.

    3. I wonder if it's related that in the last version I have never gotten a female POW from the arcology invasion event. It's been nothing but shemales or geldlings, and I savescummed a decent bit to try for women.

  8. Quick question about part of the last update - "Hormone effects should no longer push a slave out of girlish figure eligibility."

    Does this mean that shemales on hormones can never get above B-cups and small butts?
    If so, any chance we could get an "improved HRT" option on the synthesizer to unlock a version that works the same as it used to?

  12. Before you start with the review of the characters, are you sure there are not going to be anymore stats or variables you are going to add? It would be a shame to go through all that and then have to do it again since you decide to add something like scars, birthmarks, additional size options, or some other aspect. Just more of a measure twice and cut once deal.

    1. This will certainly happen. It's going to be a rolling project. The number of added stats has hit a point that they need an intermediate review now. That wasn't my original plan but with 20+ stats added since the last update, they need to be kept functional.

  14. TYPO report for the "Rapist" enslavement event, though I think these options pop up almost everywhere now:

    "Achilles tendon" choice, first sentence = "You drag her to the remote SURGER and strap her facedown with her legs bare." Should be SURGERY, and "face down" should be two words.

    "Shave her hair" choice, second sentence = "She struggles and thrashes around but soon SCRABBLES to keep up with you to relieve the pain in her scalp as she's dragged." We're not playing word games here (pun intended), should be "scrambles" instead.

  17. I've been thinking about how to reconcile game length and players' desire to see specific content in their playthroughs, and I think I have a suggestion. Instead of having a random event pop up after the income summary page, have the game put out an "event summary" page, from which the player can choose one specific event to focus on.

    Currently, if multiple weekly events have a chance to trigger, the game selects one through an opaque (invisible to the player) mechanism and presents it as the only option for the week. A player who's waiting for a particular event might have to go for multiple weeks without seeing it. Depending on a player's preferred playstyle, some events may be downright useless - personally, I am almost always disappointed to see the "slave price fluctuation" events because I barely if ever use the slave market.

    So instead, what I'm pitching is a single page with several possible weekly events listed. Each link will lead to an event page, identical to the ones that currently pop up after the weekly cash summary. All event pages will lead to the next week's page, as they do now.

    At the top, there would be a sentence or two from the arcology AI about the important events of the week that the master can choose to focus on, spelling out that there's only enough time to focus on one.

    Below this would be a small, permanent (present every week) link to "track market fluctuations". Following it leads either to the current up/down event, or to an event where the master receives a tiny amount of credits just for keeping abreast of the way the prices are going (from sharing this information with fellow owners, leveraging it against them in business deals, or similar).

    Below this would go the one-line links for all of the slave events that fired this week, each leading to the individual event pages as they currently exist.

    As far as plot events go, I'm thinking they should have their own page which shows up BEFORE or INSTEAD OF the usual event summary on the weeks they trigger. I think this would help players realize that things like "quarter mercenaries here" are very important one-time choices.

    1. QUESTION: why does every slave's page describe their asshole as "unskilled at pleasing cocks with it"?

      It looks like the clause that should be checking for anal counter/skill level/virginity status isn't working, or at least isn't pulling the appropriate stat to generate the right text message in that spot on each slave's page.

  21. Ever think of adding distinctive features/physique for slaves? Like 'broad shoulders', 'wide hips', 'long legs', 'buck-teeth' and stuff.

    Also, maybe you could crowd source event writing as well?

    Another thing that would be awesome is event variation, instead of the same event or sex scene happening every time, there would be a little variety every time you have sex with the slaves.

  22. Delayed footwear feedback: I like it, and I think it serves its purpose without being this huge thing that gets its tentacles into everything else. I mean, if you tried adding specific shoe types you'd be inundated. The 3 options now are pretty good, and the player can decide what 'heels' means on a per-slave basic. Maaaaybe add one or two more options, 'extreme heels' (ballet boot type things?) or maybe 'platforms' but other than that the current implementation is fine IMO.

    The main screen summary should probably say "On Contraceptives" instead of just "Contraceptives". Possibly without capitalizing contraceptives ('On contraceptives')? In order to match the curative and hormone entries.

    Found a shemale (with intact balls) that is listed as Sterile in the main page slave list. No mention of it in the long form description that I can find. Bug? WAI? Infrastructure for slaves impregnating each other? Or just 'sterile because she has no womb'? It seems kind of redundant if it's the last one.

    Shemales seem to have a real problem with becoming Buttsluts if set to whoring or public service. Similarly, almost any slave set to Sapphic rules will end up Bisexual, even if they already have another fetish (other than Nympho) AND a smart piercing reinforcing that fetish - they will just bounce back and forth between Bisexual and the chosen fetish. Any chance of these two things being toned down just a little?

    I for one would enjoy reading an Encyclopedia entry on the Slave Games mentioned in a few FCNN news snippets.

    Spend 30+ weeks meticulously building up a slave. Even clip an SP set to Oral on her, on top of her being a natural Cumslut. Move her over to the Brothel, next week she's a Nympho. :freecities: Lesson learned, just SP all whores to Nypmho immediately I guess.

    Sometimes renaming a slave doesn't result in a "(Birth name was X)" string. Seems like 'special' slaves (starting ones, the week 11 hooker recruit, etc) keep it, but randomly-generated ones don't? I'm actually of two minds on this, I wouldn't mind if it wasn't tracked at all (or could be hidden), but either way IMO it should either apply to everyone or nobody.

    Hopefully this is not me being dense, but in several encounters where you can choose to enslave someone (ex: week 11 hooker follow-up) there's text that basically says "it will cost X to enslave them; alternately enslaving and immediately selling will bring in Y". The problem is, there is never an option to do the second, and if you try enslaving them 'normally' and then selling them from their info page the price is typically not the same/sometimes much lower.
